What phrases do you hate?
Re: Phrases You Hate
I so hate "just wait until you're a parent" too
I also hate the "it must be nice..." comments when you say you're doing something fun/expensive/nice etc.
I hate most of the nest words LB listed, too. Especially quoting something and writing "this". I mean, can't you add anything else to it?
I also hate "Hotlanta" and "Nashvegas"
I once heard someone refer to Gainesville as "Gainesvegas" & I threw up in my mouth a little bit.
And I absolutely hate the new way of adding "on" to certain verbs like 'love on', 'hate on', etc.
WTH does that even mean?!
I HATE that people still use "winning"
It was funny at first, but really? Still?
Pretty much everything that LB mentioned.
I also hate when people say stuff like this on facebook statuses, blogs, twitter, whatever..
"This? Is the best margarita ever."
It makes me crazy.
Any of the "just wait until..." type comments (like you'll understand when you're a parent). I try really hard not to say that stuff, (I know I'm not always successful) because you know what, they might not understand. What is important to me may not be important to them.
I also hate when someone just says "this!" and you've gone to the trouble to check the thread only to find that. There's a poster on GPM that any time she responds to a thread, I don't bother checking to see what she's said, because I know it's only her quoting someone and saying "this!" Literally every time.
I also hate when someone does that with a completely unrealistic solution like, "Maybe you should blow up your mom." and someone goes, "haha this!" and then somehow a string of people start quoting that person, all agreeing to something stupid. Really? I should really do that? *eye roll*
Oh, DP, you make me laugh.
What does soup to nuts mean? I've never heard it before.
As PP mentioned, I hate "winning" but I never thought it was funny. To keep with the nest theme, I hate when posters use periods instead of spaces for emphasis. It is way overused.
There is nothing "Vegas" about Gainesville, I promise.
Getting rid of a big thing or a group of things because a piece/member is worth trashing, despite the fact that there are things that are worth saving.
I generally don't like that phrase, but it was recently the title of an article in Time about cutting funding for Planned Parenthood, and I thought that was verging on genius. lol
"Nip it in the bud" I don't know why I hate it...I just hate it.
Although I caught myself using it the other day and was completely appalled by myself.
Oops, I just did this
How is it that my BABY is going to be 3?

I think it's funny when people misquote it and say "Nip it in the butt".
