Music Help - 60th Wedding Anniversary

My grandparent's 60th wedding anniversary is coming up and I am putting together a slideshow to surprise them with. I've asked my mom if they have any favorite songs, and she said they aren't "music people."

I would still like to put it to music, but can't think of many songs to put on there.

Any suggestions would be great :)

  • What about "In My Life" by the Beatles?  Actually, you could use a few different Beatles songs - "Here, There, and Everywhere," "When I'm 64." (So not technically correct, but the sentiment is there.)

Or some Sinatra - Fly Me to the Moon, I've Got the World on a String. Dean Martin - Everybody Loves Somebody.

Do you know what (if anything) they played at their wedding?

  • I really love Billie Holiday. Especially "Come Rain or Come Shine" since it pretty much covers the ups and downs that a couple would have experienced especially over 60 years of marriage (which is awesome!). Plus its '50s Jazz and they got married in the 50s. :)

  • Have you considered big band music from the 1940's (just before they got married - maybe when they were dating). People like Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey. Or the early days of rock like Buddy Holly. I personally like Bobby Darin from the early 1960's (so a little later than when they wed).
  • Kenny Rogers' Through the Years is a good one...

my parents really like one that says "looks like we made it..."

"I said what I meant and I meant what I said, an elephant's faithful 100%" Dr. Seuss, Horton Hatches The Egg. My Ovulation Chart Ttc buddies with LexiMS!
  • You could do some Louis Armstrong/Ella Fitzgerald (not sure if that's 50's or 60's).  I think some Sinatra would be good- even if not from the time they were married, he's still relevant to their generation.  Hmm-- Nat Cole, Tony Bennett...
