Hey girls... I'm somewhat of a sporadic lurker/nester... and would like your advice. But first here's some info/background.
I'm a recent college grad with a marketing degree and I just relocated from Austin to San Francisco. I've been here for a week and a half and have been fairly successful with getting interviews (I've had 4 this week). I just got a job offer for an admin/marketing assistant for a place that I really don't want to to work. The offer was for 26K (salary) working approximately 45 hours a week. The benefits aren't that great there are no options for retirement plans and I will receive 5 vacation days per year for the first and second year. I know I did not receive one of the jobs I applied for and I just had two other interviews today that I won't find out until next week. The current job wants me to start tomorrow... and with the hours 8:30-6:00 it would be hard for me to interview/look for other jobs. Should I just be thankful I have a job in this economy? Is it a dumb move to be more picky?
WWYD?
Re: WWYD and quick intro!
It's a job you're not interested in with crappy benefits, and you've had 4 interviews in a week and half? I'd hold out.

Rather than flat-out turning it down, I would try to negotiate. That is a crummy salary to start with, but you are a recent grad, so I don't know how much extra you'll get right out of school. Do you have job experience in your field at all?
I think if you are considering turning it down it might be wise to first see what you can get out of them. Can they give you $30K to start, and maybe throw in some extra sick days or something? Before letting the opportunity go, see if you can MAKE it more of what you want. It could still be good experience that will lead to something better. Where it stands right now, I do think you can do better.
haha!
Thanks ladies. I went with my gut feeling (as well your and my family's recommendation) and turned down the offer. I didn't bother negotiating since I really didn't want to work for the company. I have established a temp job (paying WAYYY more) for the time being and feel confident I will find something soon. I have two more interviews next week!
Thanks for the advice!
