Just went off Yazmin after being on it for 8 years...

So I've been off of it for one month, and I'm just wondering if anyone else has gone off of it?  What side effects did you experience?

I've got a few more blackheads than normal, period was basically the same, etc.  Can't tell about weight gain/loss because I'm on Weight Watchers.

 Any advice, ladies?

Re: Just went off Yazmin after being on it for 8 years...

  • I was on it for 2 years and have been off for about the same time as you have. I've had oily skin and hair, some breakouts but nothing too bad, cramps, and a heavy period (but my periods were almost non-existent while I was on it). I've also been craving chocolate, carbs and other junk food.

On the flipside, I am noticing a better mood overall, increased sex drive, and more energy. Wahoo!

  • Same for me. I was on it for 10 years and just got off a couple of months. Oily skin and hair, my boobs shrunk a little big which was good, I'm a DD. I've also been craving carbs and my cramps are worse and periods are longer. My sex drive also increased. 3 weeks after I stopped taking it I started having intense pain in my left ovary and ended up having to have lapriscopic surgery to remove what my doctor thought was endometriosis, but were actually adheasions that had formed. These adhesions had apparently been there for years but I never felt any pain because I was on birth control hormones. As soon as I went off of it, BAM! That was a month and a half ago. Since then, so far so good.

  • I too went off yasmin at the start of the june after being on it for 14yrs. Got my period right away for about a week (longer then normal), bloated, weird headache almost daily, dizzy/lightheadness, blurred vision (only lasted a day or two), emotional (crying, over reacting, etc), tired, oilier skin, no cramps, no weight change. My doctor suggested Vit B6 for the emotional side effects. She said the headaches weren't a common side effect. Everything else was a normal reaction to coming off the pill. Good luck!!!

  • I went off Yazmin in February of 2010 because my hubby and I decided to start ttc.  I started getting breakouts which was unique for me because I never had acne in high school.  Went to a dermatologist and was able to get some facial creams to help.  Things have leveled out considerably.  My period lengths have been all over the place upon getting off Yazmin.  I had cycles as short as 23 days and as long as 30.  One of the pros to getting off of it was increased sex drive!  YAY!
