*nukke* vintage rings UPDATED with rings :)
My engagement ring is vintage too! It belonged to my great-grandmother.
Like you I had a band made but my question is - did you have your rings saudered (sp?) together?? My jeweler wants to do it and offered to do it as a wedding gift when I was ready but I am not sure if I really want to do it.
Re: *nukke* vintage rings UPDATED with rings :)
No, I would never get my rings soldered together. First of all, they look nothing alike. My ring is vintage, detailed and white metal. My band is simple, modern and rose gold. Second, like yours, my ring is an heirloom (it was my grandmothers from 1929), and I hope to pass it down to my kids one day.
Have a pic of yours? I found a pic of mine (sorta). This technically isn't mine, but it is so damn close. Mine has a more art nouveau flowers and ferns pattern flanking the diamond, where this one below has a more art deco fan pattern. The filigree running down the side of the band was cut off of mine as well. (sigh). I've often thought of having it put back on from a mold.
DH and I got matching 14K rose gold rings with a hammered finish. The band looks lovely with my ring. My mum was worried the different band would overwhelm the delicate vintage ring, but it makes it pop out more.
Here are our actual rings (fuzzy pic, sorry)
this is just the ring, not a super close picture but you can still see some of the filigree
and with my band on our wedding day, our jeweler had to custom make the band, I had asked for just a plain band because I wasn't sure I wanted one with diamonds but he surprised me and let me decide between the two... I loved it! (I know it's HUGE but you can see it better lol!)
