anyone have their gallbladder removed?
I've been super sick this past week and they're starting to think it's my gallbladder. Will probably go for a scan asap. Last night was the worst yet and all I know is if it is my gallbladder I want it out now! Has anyone had it removed, or known someone who has, and did it improve things? I'm assuming yes?

I had mine removed when I was 20 or so. It took them a while to pinpoint that was what was going on with me, but once they removed it, it fixed most of my stomach issues. I had my appendix removed a few years later, and that helped also (not to say you need that, too, obviously...I was just unlucky enough to need both, with the appendectomy obviously being emergency). I still have acid reflux, but that's basically unrelated.
My best advice to you is to take the doctor's advice on not eating anything but a bland diet for the first few days, and work non-bland foods back in. You're having an organ removed, so it takes some time for your body to adjust.
The pain medicine they gave me is not compatible with my stomach, and I ended up sick, sick, sick when I first got home. I'm sure you can imagine what it felt like to throw up with incisions on the stomach...totally miserable.
But, yeah, if they determine through the scan (I assume ultrasound and HIDA scan?) that that's what's going on, the surgery should help. And it's a pretty easy recovery since the incisions aren't big at all (I have a one inch cut below my belly button, and three tiny cuts on different areas of my belly.
