Registry do-over?

Any items from your wedding registry that you wish you could return and pick something else? Not happy with our coffee pot, silverware, regular glasses and knives. I like the looks of our plates, but food gets cold quickly and if you put them in the microwave, they get scorching hot while the food is still cold. Love our towels and other bathroom stuff though! Lol.

Re: Registry do-over?

  • I love our knife block set.  Love my casual china.  So glad I didn't get really formal  china, even though there was a Martha Stewart set I was in complete love with.  I really love my Simple Human Garbage can too.

Would have gotten a smaller toaster oven.  Regretted getting stainless steel bath accessories.  They rusted and sucked.

  • Our vacuum sucked, and not in the good way.  Other than that, I can't think of anything that was that bad.

ETA:  Our bath accessories - the soap dishes specifically - are pretty bad.  They're too flat so bars of soap sitting in them get gooey.

  • I wish we would have actually bought the casual china set we picked out. For our shower up here, people got us a ton of random stuff from Walmart, so we took a lot of that back and I ended up buying a similar (in appearance) set from Walmart. They're super cheap, chip, crack, etc. They also heat up and get cold too quickly. I wish we would have just gotten the set from BB&B and called it a day.
  • I think I would NOT register again for the Waring Pro wine chiller- it sucks monkies.

I would have registered for more vases from Crate and Barrel that were kind of funky. I also regret returning some funky decorative bowls and stuff a guy got us off registry.

I LOVE our formal china...however wish we could use it more and it wasn't a pain to hand wash.

I would have registered for different every day glasses; they chip to easily and now they don't sell them anymore.

Would have liked to receive our crystal stemware. Oh well.

  • When we registered, we didn't own our home yet. We put our down payment on the house the day after our wedding (yea! for cash gifts + savings).

Our house wasn't finished until October 2009.

We returned our ENTIRE registry and bought all different things once we had a few months to analyze the expenses and practicality of it all. THANK GOD we made that decision. We got so much more for our money (or....ummmm...everyone else's money).

  • Our glasses. They are beautiful, and I love them, but they are much too delicate. I had intended to get similar glasses, but sturdier, by Anchor Hocking. But they were discontinued, so I picked a different brand at BB&B. I think 3 have broken, and none were dropped - e.g. I was washing one by hand, scrubbing some lipstick off the rim, and it broke from the pressure.

  • Our coffee pot.  D picked it out but it's a pain in the butt!!  It's one of the kinds that grinds the beans and brews, but it's awful to clean and it doesn't work well with small pots.

So I packed it up and use only the Keurig.
