How big is your house/apartment?  Do you feel like you have enough space or need more space?

Re: QOTD Saturday

  • Our house is 1365 square feet: 3br/2bath (really 1 and 3/4 baths b/c the master only has a shower).

I would love to have more space.  I'd like at least one more bedroom since we will need to eliminate our office once I get pregnant again and we need another room to serve as a bedroom.  I'd like a nice master bathroom with a garden tub.  And a walk-in closet.

I'd also like a bit bigger kitchen and a pantry.  And a simple coat closet would be nice.

That's not too much to ask for, is it?

  • Our house is 1254 sq/ft but I'm pretty sure that includes the 1 car garage. We have 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths, laundry and an open floor plan living/dining area. It's enough space for us now but once our family starts to grow we'll be pretty cramped. Right now we have 1 guest room and 1 "dork room" (book, comics, H's collectables, etc). All of our closets are full. I would love more storage space and a kitchen with a pantry.

  • Ours is 3000. At the time we bought, we took advantage and bought big. The extra space is awesome for entertaining. Our family is now growing and we have a guest room which gets used often. At times, I wish I had one more bedroom, or maybe just a little more storage space would do the trick. I'd love an outdoor patio/kitchen area...it's in my 5 year plan.
  • our house is a little over 3,300sq ft, 5/3.5.  we are luckt to  have more than enough space for our growing family and for when we have oot guests which seems to be often.
  • My house in Navarre was a little over 1200 and it was way too small.  We had an open floor plan, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, but no garage.  I'll never own a house again without a garage.

  • Our house is 2200 sq. ft with 3Br/3Ba, a bonus room and an office. It's the biggest place we've ever lived so as of right now we're thrilled. We were very lucky to buy in a time when the market was so low as this house will accommodate my need for a set space to work from home and our plans to start a family in the next few years.

  • Our apartment is a little over 900 sq ft.  It's only a one bedroom, but we also have a bonus room and a solarium which makes it feel a little bigger.  We could definitely use more space though!  We've agreed that when we buy a house (hopefully soon), it has to have at least 2000 sq ft, but I've already learned that more square footage does not necessarily = more space.  It totally depends on the floorplan and how it's designed (i.e., my friend's house is 1900 sq ft but looks and feels much smaller because of the poor layout).  We'd love to have a 3 car garage, and a huge walk-in closet is a must lol.

  • Our house is 1400 sq ft, 3 bed/2bath. I do feel like we need one more bedroom. We're having to get rid of a ton of stuff to make room for the nursery. I also really want a bigger kitchen. We are in the process of redoing it and adding an island which will at least give us more counter and cabinet space. Our bedrooms are quite large and our yard is really big, so I like those aspects.

  • Our current apartment is 1150 square feet and the one we're moving into next month is 1170 square feet.  They're both 2 bedroom/2 bath, but the new one feels so much bigger because of the layout.
  • Our house is 2,900 sq ft. It is 4bd/4ba and a bonus room. We bought when prices were low, so we sought out one subdivision and here we are. I love our pantry and overall floor plan. We do not need a house this big at this stage of our life. This isn't our forever home, but it has helped us understand what we want in our next house.

Our house is 1254 sq/ft but I'm pretty sure that includes the 1 car garage.

The garage is usually only included if it is heated/cooled.  My square footage does not include my laundry room or 1-car garage.  Hopefully you have more space than you thought!

  • With the sunroom ours is almost 1500 sq ft. I think it's a good size... we came from 700 sq ft in LA so we really don't need any more. But this can't be our forever home because we'll need more than 3 bedrooms once we start a family.

  • Ours is around 1600 sq ft. 3/2 with a bonus room but no garage. We definitely need more room and we absolutely need a garage. We rented this house in a pinch so I couldn't be too picky, at least we have a huge backyard for the dogs.
  • Our house is 1045 square feet 2 bedrooms/ 2 bathrooms with a one car garage. The plan was to sell this house 5 years after we bought it. That was in 2006. We are looking at 3-5 more years so we can atleast break even. We definitely need more room but I still really like our house.

  • We have 2k and it's certainly enough for the two of us, but I would want more if we had kids.  Without exaggerating, I seriously could utilize eight bedrooms (two guest rooms, two kid rooms, master, two offices and gym room).  Plus in a perfect (independently wealthy) world, I'd want a loft for reading (that I would never use for reading but it would be very pretty) and a sunroom for a bar and indoor/outdoor entertaining space.  So my ideal house is approximately 6k square feet.  lol

In reality if H would just cut the freaking fraternity cord, we would have even more usable space.  *glares at kegerator and giantass arcade machine hidden in the crap/storage room*

  • Ours is 3/2 with a 2 car garage & its 1536 sq ft. 1500 sq ft is the smallest we looked at & it really depends on layout. Our house is really open, so I think it feels bigger. Right now we use one of the bedrooms as a guest room & the other is an office/crap room.

Once we have a kid, I think it'll feel smaller.

In our next house, I definitely want at least another bedroom, a formal dining room, a 3 car garage & a larger pantry.

  • Ours is 3000 sq. ft.  When we bought it, it was way too big for us but we knew we wanted a family so we figured we'd grow into it.  Now, we could definitely use more space.

Right now we have 5 bedrooms and 3.5 baths - our room, B's room, baby's room, guest room/office and playroom.  I really wish that we had a separate office/guest room and then a bonus room to use as the playroom for now, and eventually an entertainment room for the kids so they have their own space.  We've talked about moving in a few years, but we both love our house and the layout (all of our bedrooms are upstairs, the common areas plus playroom and guestroom/office) are downstairs and it's very open.
