What to do for friend who miscarried?

Just a little backstory... One of my best friend's from high school married DH's best friend's brother. She and I have faded over the years, but are definitely excited that we are part of a group of about 5 couples that hang out pretty regularly. She and I do not talk on the phone, but it's always so nice to see her and we always talk about the fact that we need to hang out more. At our last dinner out they announced they were pregnant, and on Thursday I found out they miscarried about 4 months in. Today she sent a facebook email to myself and 2 of the other girls saying she is going back and forth between wanting to talk about it, and wanting to keep to herself. I'm actually happy she sent the message because I was going to call today just to let her know I have been praying for her and I am here if she needs anything.

Is there anything else I can do aside from this? She was taken to the hospital on Friday night because of massive bleeding and dangerously low blood pressure. She doesn't cook, so I'd love to make her and her husband a meal, but is this too much? I know at this point it will be emotional healing, but she obviously has some physical healing going on right now too.

A sympathy card and bringing over dinner would be really nice.

  • Since she reached out to you via FB, I'd reply and let her know that when she is ready to talk about it, you will lend a listening ear. You can also mention that since she hasn't been well, you'd like to offer a homemade meal while she heals.
  • I think that taking a meal to her and just letting her know you're there for her is an excellent idea. These next few weeks will be pretty rough for her.
  • 4 months is a pretty late miscarriage. C miscarried twice early and it wasn't too bad but I can't imagine at that late after telling people etc. Horrible :(

I think a meal is a nice idea and just let her know you're available when/if she wants to talk.
