Anyone have big summer plans?
What is everyone doing this summer? I know we have a few women in education, do you have off this summer? What is everyone else doing?
Re: Anyone have big summer plans?
Do the creep.
OMG that sounds AMAZING! So totally jealous. You guys will have such a fabulous time!
We don't have anything major planned. I'm going back to school this term and start next Monday. I'm both nervous and excited.
We want to go on a few camping/ fishing trips this summer but those would all be local trips. I'm also flying to AZ to see my best friend after she has her baby. We don't have any set plans for our first anniversary maybe a beach trip, but nothing major.
Once we get the house finished and move, I doubt we'll have any energy or money to do anything else. My parents and sibs and DH's sibs and friends are all doing a 15 mile kayaking/canoeing trip Saturday.
But mostly we'll be saving for 8-ish days in Orlando with my parents, sibs and sibs GFs in May. We're going to spend at least 3 days in Disney, and one day at Universal. So that's gonna be expensive.
I am a teacher & am completly OFF for the summer! It is soooo nice! My car is currently in the shop & they are having trouble getting the part they need for it, so I have had a great excuse to not go anywhere! I have gotten alot done around the house.
As far as traveling-SIL & nieces are coming out for 2 weeks in June. We are going to take the girls to St. Louis for a few days & go get our nails done, do girly stuff, and go to a baptism for SIL's neice in Bloomington. Then in July I am going to L.A. to spend 2 weeks with my old college roomate. DH is flying out towards the end of my trip & spending 4 days, they we are flying home together. In August we are going to visit my brother, SIL & nieces in Baltimore. We are going to DC to do a few things that we have not gotten to do there yet & then DH & I are suprising my SIL & nieces with 1 week at Rehoboth Beach in our timeshare (brother knows about it but is keeping it secret, he had to take the time off work, SIL is a teacher & is off all summer)
We built a new house 2 years ago when we got engaged & I am finally getting around to doing some of the landscaping, etc that I always wanted to do!
I am so jealous of all of you teachers!!! We're both working this summer (I'm 5 days a week and he's 6). DH and I grew up and lived only a couple of blocks away from the beach up until we got married. We now live an hour away and the summer is already starting out miserable for us. We're used to going to the beach everyday after work, but now that's really not an option.
Unfortunately we got an insane amount of snow this winter and my company never closes for snow, so I lost a lot of vacation days. Usually we are able to take a few mini vacations and 1-2 big vacations over the summer, but this summer that's not an option because of my limited vacation time and our finances. We will be visiting his relative's lake house for a long weekend in July and will be taking a mini vacation for our anniversary at the end of August.
This summer we really hope to set up a better financial plan for how to get through the year while he's in school. Last year we were really tight, but I think we're going to be a lot better this year and possibly be able to start saving!
I am also a teacher, so I have a few more weeks to go and then I am off for July and August!! I usually take a course though, so I still have to decide if I am going to do that - I am just finishing one right now and I think I might need a break!
We are planning on heading out to camp as much as possible - and of course our trip to Mackinac Island for our anniversary! I just hope to read, visit friends and family and enjoy!
DH and I are actually spending the summer apart. He has an incredible internship in San Francisco, and I am staying in Chicago due to my job. I may we were able to get away for 4 days on a trip to Las Vegas. A week later, we went to San Francisco to get him settled.
It has been two weeks so far, and it has been fine. It is hard to be apart, but I can't wait to see him in 3 weeks when I get to go back to San Francisco for 4th of July weekend! We are trying to find a weekend late July when I can either go there again or he can come home, but I may not get to go back until the end of the summer when his parents are taking us to Yosemite, where we will be for our anniversary!
