a shot in the dark...

Has anyone here been watching Game of Thrones on HBO at all?

I highly suggest it, especially since it's not been greenlit for at least one more season.

The books are even more amazing, but the series is definitely doing them justice.  Last night's episode had me on the edge of my seat, even when I knew what was going to happen!

I'm looking for someone who hasn't read the books but is watching the series... I'm really curious about their reactions after last night!

  • It is the next book I'm going to read.  We're not watching until I've read all of them because Kirk is freaking out about "spoiling".

To watch the first season, you only need to read the first book.  It's pretty spot-on.  As for next season, it's a free-for-all from what I've been told, so that I would want to watch until I read at least the next two.  The following books are just so much larger than the first one, so from what I read they're thinking of taking the basic storylines from the next books and cutting and pasting to make a better flow for the series, so something that came up in book three might be showing up next season... if that makes sense.

I'm reading Game of Thrones again for the 3rd time.  My goal was to have it done before the end of the season so that I could remember what was going on.... I have until next Sunday to accomplish that goal.  And with book 5 coming in July, I wanted to re-read the others in preparation... this may or may not happen.

  • I started watching it but I havent read the books- it was more sexual than I thought it would be and I decided to read the books before continuing watching.

The one thing I absolutely love about this series is that it has eeeeeeeverything.  It's fantasy, but it's definitely not your usual run-of-the-mill fantasy.

  • no ugh because our cable provider sucks and we refuse to give them more money for HBO. But as soon as it's available on netflix, it's ours.

I also haven't actually read the book yet, but my friend lent it to me yesterday so once I finish my current book, I'm on it.
