First squirrels, then mice, then a fishy smell, and now flies?

Yes, you read that right.  We've found 10 big houseflies TODAY, and 3 yesterday. DH is amazing with bugs and killed them all, but WTF man?  We don't have any food out.  I'm terrified that I'm going to come home tomorrow to a house full of flies. The exterminators who got the squirrels and the mice out SWORE that they didn't leave any dead animals out there, even when we had a nasty fishy smell in the bedroom and showed it to the landlord, who apparently got nasty with the exterminators when they couldn't find anything.  But DH and I can't help but wonder if the insane amount of flies we're finding are related to the squirrels.  UGH!  We want OUT of this house!  We need to speed up this mortgage process and get out of this hellhole.

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

  • Oh wow.  I am kind of speechless!  I'm not sure how I would handle your situation!  I hope you get out of there soon and into your new home!  Good luck on ridding your place of the unwelcomed guests!

  • Yuck! I remember when I rented a room just out of college there was a terrible smell coming from my closet. It ended up being a dead raccoon under the house. Thankfully we caught it fairly soon and it was November, so it wasn't quite the same as summertime. Hope you get it taken care of soon!

  • Oh that sounds nasty. Hope everything goes smoothly and quickly for the new place!

  • Ugh...that happened to my family when there was a dead rabbit under the porch.  After the larvae turn to flies, all you can do is really keep on top of killing them.  I bet there were some left when they removed the squirrels, or another animal they didn't find.
