Do I remember you saying way back when we did our house posts in the DITL that you had columbines planted in your beds???
I went to Lowes looking for some plants and after I bought a hydrangea and another little pink perennial, I found a packet of columbine seeds in the drawer. How easy are they to maintain? How big do they get? When do they bloom? I've checked it out on google, but I feel like I need kid gloves when it comes to this gardening thing....I've been known to kill cacti.
We moved our shed and within the next week Danny is going to build some flowers beds along the sides and I was wondering if I could stick the columbines there. The only thing I really know about them is they need morning sun and afternoon shade, which would be perfect by the shed, but I have no idea how big they get or if they'll look stupid in a bed. I saw a bunch of annuals at Lowes that I was thinking about, but if I stick a columbine in there, I'd have to plant less yearly. Which means I'm less likely to kill them.

I bought 4 columbine plants last spring and planted them in our flower bed that gets full sun. 3 of them didn't do so well, didn't come back this year. But one came back and went CRAZY! It like quadrupled in size, so much so that we'll probably be digging it up and putting it in a big pot to contain it a little. So I'd give them plenty of room, because they have the potential to get HUGE!

I figured I could do one in each corner (the shed is about 10 feet long), so that way there would be about 6 feet or so inbetween if they got huge and then I could fill that smaller bit in with the annuals. Seems like my plan may work.....that is if I don't kill them first.
