Wow.... bad news.

My husband just got fired. Completely out of nowhere.

Just last month everyone was saying he was the best manager they've had and we thought he would be getting promoted soon. Then they hired some guy from out of town, who we now know was out to get him, so he set him up and then fired him today. We have email traces of the setup so we're considering getting a lawyer.

I am in shock. They took his phone too so I can't even call him.

We just moved in September and have already put thousands into our house and are right in the middle of redoing both bathrooms and the kitchen..... if he doesn't find another job paying as much as his old one ASAP we might have to move back to California because I hardly make anything.

This is crazy. Our new life here is the happiest I've ever been and everything was going so perfectly... and now this.

Does anyone know anyone in need of an IT/Broadcast manager? Or anything similar?

Thanks Sad

  • Oh my gosh, I am so sorry :( I'll keep my ears open, but I have no clue. I hope you're able to get the situation straightened out if this shady new guy was really just trying to get him out!

  • Oh man! So sorry! That sucks!

I hope he can find something fast. And did the company have an HR dept? Maybe it would be worth chatting with them about the firing process, including showing them your records?

  • That's crazy. I'm so sorry.

I'd definitely contact an attorney if you have any proof of a set-up.

  • OMG! That's really awful. I'm sorry you're having to go through this. :(Just a personal anecdote, but I was fired COMPLETELY unexpectedly in February from a company I had been with for four years and it ended up being a huge blessing in disguise. I found a significantly higher paying job in less than six weeks. I know that's just how my situation turned out, but I've totally been exactly where you are. It sucks temporarily, but you guys will make it! *hugs* ... and *wine*
  • OMG, that sucks!  I would definitely contact an attorney...they don't charge for talking prelims and hypotheticals.  They have to know if they have a case first.

What kind of IT...does it include project management at all?

I hope you guys are able to work something out.

  • I'm so sorry, that really stinks.  I hope he is able to find something soon!

  • Thanks girls....

The story is getting worse... apparently HR was "in" on it too. In the meeting they were ignoring everything DH was saying and wouldn't answer his questions while his new boss (the one that set him up) was lying to their faces. They locked him out of his office where his laptop was so he couldn't get to his emails... now they are going to delete all of the convos of the setup so he will have no proof. If we get a lawyer it's all of them vs. him. I don't know how he will have a case.

  • Does he have remote access to his email so you can get in & forward everything real quick?

  • Email me if you can. PMing my email address to you now.

He did from his laptop but they tricked him into bringing it to work today and then locked it so he couldnt get it before he left.

  • I'm so sorry. DH works in IT (storage architect) for LPS. I'll ask him if he knows of anything.

ETA: Tell him to contact Sapphire Technologies. They specialize in IT jobs and were the ones that placed DH in his intial position when we moved to Jax.

  • That is horrible. Hopefully it is a blessing in disguise since this company sounds like they are pretty awful.

  • Oh, no! The way they are handling the situation sounds insane and very shady. I hope he finds something better very soon.

  • I'm so sorry to hear that.  Definitely sounds shady.  Fingers crossed that this is a catapult to bigger and better things.
  • OMG that sounds terrible! I'm so sorry. I had an unfortunate situation happen to me at work last November as well and ended up getting a much better job within a month. Stay positive, everything will work okay out no matter what happens.
  • That's awful! Like pps have said, maybe it's a blessing in disguise. Sounds like this isn't the kind of company he wants to be working for anyway. Hope he finds something new soon!

  • I'm so sorry.  That's so frustrating, but hopefully something better will open up.
  • What a horrible situation!  Im so sorry.  Hopefully he'll find something better ASAP.  It doesnt sound like this is a company to want to stay with anyways.

  • Have they locked any of his personal belongings in his office?  If so, he can get the police out so he can retrieve those and he might be able to get to the emails while he is at it.
