I have no idea where the Lou came from, it just sounded good
I will be in Chi town on Monday the 20th. Lance and I are going to come up after work and get a hotel and go to six flags, or at least that is the plan. I then thought about surprising him with a room down town instead. What do you think I should do??

Re: **Hannah Lou**
Ooo! fun! Some of my friends are there today and I'm definitely jealous!
So which night are you staying the night? And then the next day you'll go to Six Flags and drive back after?

The plan is to stay Monday night and go to six flags on Tuesday and then drive home Tuesday night. (We both have to work Wednesday.)
I don't think I have ever been to Navy Pier and walked the magnificent mile (isn't that what it's called), so I am thinking down town is going to be more fun...hmmmm
Hm, I honestly think I'd stay in Gurnee area. It'd probably be cheaper for a hotel, but my main thought it is that if you want to be at SF most of the day, you'd probably want to get there early (it opens at 10). There's definitely traffic in that direction the morning, so to avoid traffic, you'd probably want to wait until 9:30 or 10 to get on the road. It takes about an hour to get there (depending on traffic).
Although honestly, I guess it's not that bad. You could either stay in Gurnee and probably sleep in until 9:30 and get to the park at open (depending how long it takes you to get ready)
Or stay downtown and wake up around 9 but not get to the park until 11.
Navy Pier is really pretty, especially at night on the ferris wheel! What time would you get into town on Monday?

I am thinking that if I decide to do the downtown route we will skip SF and stay downtown, go to the bean, navy pier, maybe the shedd, something like that. We would get to town around 8 or 9ish, depending on traffic and when Lance gets off work.
Any hotel rec's for downtown so I can look at prices?
oh I see, gotcha! That'd definitely be fun!!
I don't have any recs other than priceline.com. Specify your area (I'd say you probably want to be north of the Chicago River/Wacker Drive) and East of LaSalle Street.
My brother works at a high-end hotel which is a few blocks from the main part of Michigan Ave. Typically he can get a family/friend rate for $125. I'm not sure if he would have enough time to get it, but if that price is appealing, let me know. Although honestly since it's a Monday night, I think you could do better with priceline. If you need help on location, let me know!

Sure, I'll call him after I get off.
Some of these are south of the river, but they're on the main "strip" and close to Millenium Park.
Hard Rock Hotel, Hotel 71, Hyatt Regency (I've stayed here, it was nice!), Drake (stayed there also, pretty nice), Sofitel Hotel, Holiday Inn Express, Mariott Magnificant, Four Points Sheraton, etc.
I've had friends do the "name your price" or whatever on priceline, which is what I was referring too. You name your price, # of stars and vicinity/area. I've had friends stay at Palmer House (which is really nice) for $170 for an entire wknd!
