I want to go sailing, and was wondering if MD had an requirements lk a license or certification or something. Anyone know? I was thinking of doing a starters class in Annapolis with DH.. and was wondering if we could just rent a boat after that, or if more is required.
Re: sailing in md??
I don't really know anything about boating, but have friends who've used this company. I think it's sort of like a timeshare for boats, but they also include lesson(s) in boating.
Good luck!
Not in MD, but we took lessons just south of Alexandria at Mariner Sailing School. You can do a weekend class and get a card that will let you rent a boat anywhere. It is a nice place to learn - on the Potomac, low pressure, etc.
If you already know how to sail, most places will ask you a few questions to be sure you know what you are doing and let you rent a boat. Mariner does this as well.
If you find a good place in Annapolis can you post it?
The Annapolis Sailing School has great lessons (and definitely search for coupons because I have seen them before). You can rent boats from them and I think you need the boater's safety course to do so.
Have fun!
