Carroll County Q's!

DH and I moved to Sykesville a year ago and are finally getting settled.  We LOVE the area, but we're both 25, no kids (for a few years!), and having a little bit of difficulty meeting people our own age (it seems most are 10-20 years older).  Most of our friends haven't taken the marriage plunge yet and are still doing the city living thing.

Wondering if anyone knows of any clubs/events/etc where we can meet some people our age :)

Thanks!

Re: Carroll County Q's!

  • My H is from Sykesville, Howard County side but we both play BSSC sports together....in Baltimore they have a league and they do in Howard and other counties if you and your hubby are into sports you could give that a try.  They are mostly social leagues, and it is a good way to get to know people with common interests.

  • We live in Sykesville also! Cobblestone on 26 has a pretty young crowd on the weekends and a DJ at night. GL Shacks also gets pretty crowded, at the intersection of 26 and 32. Umm oh there's a BYOB bowling place also near GL Shacks and we'll have friends come out and pregame at our house then just go there with a cooler, it's always fun. We're about 15 min tops from Owings Mills so Green Turtle there is good. Oh Amante's is also fun and they just opened an outdoor bar with horseshoes and cornhole.

We play on a co-rec softball team in Howard Co with friends but I know there are co-rec sports teams at Freedom Park right off of 32.

I heard the bowling alley closed Sad

  • My H and I both grew up in Sykesville and when we go home to visit recently, if we go out it's usually to GL Shacks, Cobblestone, or sometimes Serra Brothers. We also went to Becks not too long ago too. We haven't had much luck the last few times, most nights have turned out to be duds and we haven't run into anyone we knew. Usually when we were younger we would go to Batemans or the Harriman House in Reisterstown. That would have been fun if the bowling alley was open when we lived there!
