Anyone ever go to Fishkill OB/GYN?

I had to switch offices due to a change in our insurance and just wondering if anyone has any experience here.  I know Dr. Murray and love him, but he has retired from obstetrics.

I have an appointment with Dr. Turk but I am having a hard time finding any reviews or information on him.

Any info would be a great help, thanks ladies!

Re: Anyone ever go to Fishkill OB/GYN?

  • Thats where I currently go, and I see Dr. Stern and I like him a lot. I had to see Turk while pregnant and didn't care for him. Our personalities didnt mesh well, he has a very dry sense of humor and we just never hit it off. I really like Dr Zolnick and Madoff also. Madoff is currently the only female I believe an she is the one who delivered Teaghan. I see them in their Fishkill office. Any other questions feel free to ask.

  • Jus one more thing, it is a very large practice especially now that they merged with Valley obgyn and sometimes I feel like just a number, it is not very personal.

  • Thank you very much for the info.  I guess I will see how it goes on Thursday.  When it comes to obstetrics, do you usually see all the doctors in the practice, or one specific doctor?

  • They try to have you see as many as possible since you don't know who may end up delivering you.

  • I went to Fishkill OB/GYN. They were ok.. I liked all the doctors. I actually liked Dr Turk.. He was the one that caught the fact that I was measuring REALLY small because he was the only doctor that measured my belly when I was pregnant. I was measuring a month behind and no one else really noticed despite the fact that I asked at every appointment "Am I supposed to be this small?" The only downside is that they are merged with another office. So, when I was induced early (because of low fluid) Dr Stern had sent me over.... Dr Turk admitted me on Tuesday night. On Wednesday... I had a different doctor from the other practice who I had never met before. He was middle eastern (I don't remember his name) and not a very pleasant person to say the least. He basically told me "I don't know why they are inducing you... I NEVER induce for low fluid until at least 38 weeks" To which I replied "I am 38 weeks today" (maybe he should read the chart before he makes stupid comments) and he said "Oh well.. I still would have waited" He left me on the pitocin all day and we had to harass the nurses to get him to even come in to check me. He only came in like 3 times the entire day to me. Once when he was doing morning rounds... once when I kept asking the nurse to get him to see what was going on...and once when he left. He seemed very conceited and just not a very good bedside manner. I actually know some people who have worked with him clinically who have said similar things about him. I honestly feel like he just didn't care about me because I wasn't really one of 'his' patients. The next day Dr. Salem was my doctor, again another doctor who I had never met before because he is from the other practice. He was REALLY REALLY nice and I loved him. He was the one who delivered K. He is an older gentleman (I'd say 60's) and just was really nice. He took the time to explain everything and was just very professional. Honestly... I wasn't sure if I would go back to them after having K or if I would have switched to another doctor. Just the other doctor who gave me the attitude left me with such a bad taste about that office. I really didn't want to get stuck with him again if there is a next time. All that doesn't matter now since we have moved.... But just thought I'd share my experience. When I went there I met with all the doctors... but Dr. Salem and Dr. Attitude don't work at the fishkill office (not sure if that has since changed). I'd suggest seeing them all because you never know who will be there on delivery day!

  • i go there and like Dr. Turk and Dr. Murray - I don't have any other experience with the rest of staff.

After the 3 miscarriages, Dr. Turk was the first to question why i was not tested after the 2nd one.  He put in me touch with neonatal pathologist and found the culprit in my recurrent miscarriages. He is a bit dry but i get that and has been wonderfully patient with me.

  • I use them as well.

I LOVE Dr Zolnick (he delivered Connor) and Dr Stern - they're laid back and more casual, more my style.

Dr Turk is a good doctor, he's just not warm and fuzzy so sometimes it puts people off. I totally hated him the first time I met him, but, when  Iwas pregnant with Paige and having preterm labor issues he's the one who saw me in the hospital and really worked towards solving the problem and getting me to stay pregnant for longer... and I began to understand how he operated a little better.

Dr Madoff is really nice as well. She does come off a little serious at first, but is easy to talk to.

When i was in "real labor" with Paige I got one of the other doctors (dr white) from the other practiced they merged with. He was ok. He was a good doctor, but VERY quiet, which makes for a weird situation when you're in labor. LOL

Overall, I"m pleased with their practice.

  • my only experience with them is professional from the hospital ( im not ob )-- and a lot of the times.... their attitudes and treatment are MUCH different from towards the nurse to the patient-- I like dr. zolnick and dr. stern, dr. turk is clinicaly excellent but can be abrasive.  i agree- it is a large practice so some people feel like a "number" not a person but most people love the care they recieve.    fyi--- dont get freaked out by d. zolnicks hawk tattoo on his arm...

plus u get to deliver at vassar... =)

    best of luck!

Enjoying parenthood after 3 1/2 long years of trying...
