moving rec?

Ok, girls.  DH and I are starting the process of looking to move to the Tampa area and need your help.  I really have no idea where to start as far as the area goes.  I lived there, in Largo roughly 8 or so years ago and kind of liked it, but I want other options/areas to look at.  I would like to live in a community (either gated or non gated, doesn't matter) that my DH and I could potentially start our family in.  We're looking at pretty much any type of house except for multi-family.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: moving rec?

  • We love New Tampa.  The traffic kinda sucks right now with the construction, but eventually it will be better.

  • I live in the Westchase area (although not directly in Westchase) which is NW Tampa.  I love this area.  We are fairly centralized to both Tampa and Pinellas county as well as not too far from the beach.  Very community friendly in this area.  There are several wonderful neighborhoods out this way.  I definitely recommend it!
  • I also live in New Tampa.  We've only been here four months, but love it - although as Jen mentioned the road construction is crazy.

  • I live just south of Carrollwood which is considered north Tampa-ish.  Carrollwood is not gated but it is basically it's own community with parks, a community center, some religious institutions, and centrally located to shops and restaurants.  Most of it was built in the 70's I believe so a little older, but the houses are nice and on large lots.

I also love Westchase and I hope to move there for our next house.  It is a mix of gated and non-gated communities, several located in walking distance to West Park Village which is a little area with shops and restaurants.  Most of it was built in the 90's and up, so it's a newer area.  Although the lots are smaller and houses closer together, it's all kept up very nice and I like the sense of community over there.

    Good luck on your search!
