Legal question

Is there a place I can go or a number to call to ask some legal questions?  We have a situation we are dealing with and we are wondering if we need to get a lawyer involved.  We want to ask some basic questions and run the situation past someone in the legal-know.  Do you lovely ladies have any suggestions or recommendations?

Thanks!

Re: Legal question

  • Do you or your husband have access to an employee assistance program through work?  Lifeworks is one example...  If so, you can call a number and have a conversation with a lawyer.  They can give you basic advice.  If they feel that it is something that is out of their hands, they can give you a recommendation for someone local to consult with and usually you get a little bit of a discount on the visit with the in-person lawyer.

  • You can also try the MN Bar Association referral site.

  • Many county bar associations have a number like the one posted above. Just google your county and bar association.

If neither of those options pan out, you can always call a lawyer who practices the type of law you need and ask for an initial consultation.  Some charge, some don't. You might even be able to find one that offers a free phone consult.

  • It depends on what type of legal question but I know of Tewksbury & Kerfeld, PA. They are located in Minneapolis and have helped some people I know.

Here is their website - http://www.tkz.com/. I would try Attorney Keith Kerfeld or one of his assistants.
