Anyone watching the CNN republican debate? I wasn't - but my twitter feed was hilarious over it, so I turned it on...
Bachmann announced she's running for President.
Ron Paul - when asked if he would deny ER care to children of illegal immigrants - answered the question by saying something about the Afghanistan Pakistan border and said that people aren't going to die in the streets, hungry, in America.
Bachmann - when asked if she would overturn Don't Ask Don't Tell - said that she would, as President, overturn DADT after checking with the Commander in Chief and the Joint Chiefs of Staff... Not sure if she knows but the President IS the Commander in Chief - so is she going to ask herself? *confused*
Newt Gingrich - when asked about Muslims in America - said he won't allow any terrorists in his Cabinet.

I missed a portion of it, but I gotta say I was relieved when T.Paw finally mentioned 9/11. I was beginning to get worried there because nobody was talking about it.
Seriously, the whole thing could be summed up in two words: Obama BAD!
He seems to be a first class question dodger.
I didn't watch it - not only do we not have cable/dish, but I honestly don't know if I could stomach listening to Michele Bachmann . . . the bits I heard on the news were bad and vomit inducing enough!
That said - two observations:
1) Michele needs to let up on the Botox. From the stills of the night, her face (forehead especially) is so tight and flat it REALLY makes her look like an alien. Add in her annoying voice and wack-a-doo thinking and I think we could confidently make an argument that she is not from MN, let alone, this planet!
2) Umm, can someone explain to me why the she felt the need to announce that she had filed paperwork to run for president?? Isn't taking part in a presidential candidate debate a sliiiiiiiight indicator of that already? Why do that, plus make an announcement - - that you are going to make a FORMAL announcement at a future date?? Seemed a bit of overkill.
My theory on #2 is that she knows she has no chance in hell of winning or even being a serious contender, so she wants to milk all the press and publicity of announcing - so she's doing it THREE TIMES. Ugh. I hate that woman.
I'm just happy Bachmann announces she will not run for her seat again. The chances of her winning the presidency are so slim and this means that we won't have to listen to her weord comments from our district any longer.
Let's not start celebrating, yet. She says that she's not running for her seat, at this time, because legally, she can't. But if she drops out of the presidential race, she can still run for her current seat. She has until June 2012 to formally throw her hat in the ring for her current seat. I'm not going to celebrate until it's July 2012.
At this point in time, it's a win win situation for her. She can raise her national profile, earn some respect from her Republican colleagues. Then quit the presidential race 5 months later, and announce that she's running for her seat. She said that she's not running for her current seat, but I'll believe it when I see it come July 2012.
Maya makes a good point.
I think I believe 1.75% of what comes out of their mouths (repubs AND dems).
