Just posted wedding pics on FB

of my sister's wedding.  These are all of the "before" pics.  The professional photog has all of the actual wedding/professional ones :)  I'll post those once he hands them over!

Ok spill, how did the wedding go after all you and your mom's stress?

Pooks - I have two younger sisters!  The middle one is the one who got married...the baby is just 20 :)

Shaina - the wedding went well.  The things that messed up were beyond my control, so I just had to take deep breaths.

The first mess up was that my sister's dress was too small.  She gained a ton of weight last summer when she was sick and on steroids, and never lost it.  She went on a crash diet, lost some weight, bought a dress, got fitted, got re-fitted and took the dress home.  In the time between getting the dress altered and the wedding, she must have gained weight.  She tried the dress on Thursday and we BARELY got it zipped.  We went to put it on Saturday (the photog was taking pictures mind you) and it would not zip. Finally, we got the clasp fastened and seconds later, it completely busted. She was crying, I was silently freaking out and trying to calm her down.  I keep a kit with me at weddings and was able to basically sew the dress on her.  I prayed the entire ceremony it would hold.  It was a Catholic ceremony, so there was a lot of up and down.

Then, we get to the reception and the DJ, who is a friend of my mom's, came out and told us that his computer crashed earlier in the day and he was running off CDs.  He didn't bring his ipod connector and didn't have their first dance song, son/mother song and a lot of others.  Plus, he played the music at an unbearably high decibel.  It was completely horrible.

Then, when they served dinner, it wasn't at all what my mom and sister had tasted and decided upon.  It was so bland.

Then, when they went to cut the cake, it was discovered there were only 2 flavors when there should have been 4.  One of the flavors they left out was the only flavor my sister had to have.

If you were just a guest at the wedding, you wouldn't have known all this messed up, but we knew and were pisssed!

My mom called all of the vendors today and let them have it.  All they did was apologize.  The reception site said they served what they ordered.  That is BS.  All in all it was a great wedding, just little/major things :)

  • Oh wow I would be pissed.  I can't believe they didn't do anything for your mom.  I guess all you can do is leave bad reviews.

But they're married and now get to enjoy the next phase in their life.

  • Pics look great!! Can't wait to see pics of the wedding itself!

I hate that those things went wrong, and for a bride who paid money for those services they are a big deal even if the guests never noticed.  I would have been pissed about the DJ thing and the cake more than anything else.  Well and the dress, but I don't know if there was anything that could have been done about that except going back and getting more alterations.  But it certainly does suck.

  • Wow. I'm sorry all of those things went wrong. Like you said though, I'm sure guests never even noticed any of the mistakes.

  • These pica are great. Sounds like there was a lot going on behind the scenes! I'm sure you guys were the only ones who noticed, and everyone else had a great time.

  • Loved the pics! I can't wait to see the pro pics too. That is a lot of things to get messed up :( but yes, the end result is the same - they are married - yay! Now you can relax and get back to things you want to :)

  • Beautiful pictures!! All of that sucks for your sister but I hope she was okay in the end. I remember my weddng day and once I had my makeup on I sat back and felt like "well if anything gets effed up there is nothing I can do now so let's just have some fun and enjoy our day". I really did feel that way and I hope you sister found herslef in a similar place.
