Hoektastic and anyone else...

Here are some of the other things I'm thinking of for Pete's Airplane themed party.  Let me know if you can think of anything else.

So far, the front runners are:

  • Kids sit at long table covered in white table cloth with a runway drawn on it.
  • Favor box might be small, cardboard suitcase and say "Thank u for flying with PeteAir today"
  • White balloon bunches to represent "clouds" and blow up airplanes (also a favor when the kids go home) hung from ceiling with fish line
  • Map covering cardboard platter for cake
  • Top gun sunglasses for favor
  • Pin pilot (picture of Pete) on the plane
  • Airplane throwing contest from our deck.  I am going to have someone at work make blank sugar cookies in the shape of an airplane.  Then, after the kid throws the plane, make up an award for them ie., longest flight - Ben", "Most twirly flight - Pete" and write it on the cookie
  • Find plane in clouds - fill a large container with white packing peanuts and mix inexpensive plastic airplanes in - kids are told they are the air traffic controllers and  must find planes lost in the clouds
  • Blue Koolaid labeled "jet fuel"
  • Draw a simple arial map of our yard or use google maps?  and have kids find the planes based on where they appear on the map.

All of this I got from reading www.birthdaypartyideas.com writeups on plane theme parties.

I also have a bunch of pictures saved on my Pinterest Party board.  There is a cute candy airplane that I could make.  Also, a plastic plane stuck in blue jello.  And then, yes, some little airplane snack packets.

Re: Hoektastic and anyone else...

  • Wow, that's impressive!
  • You are a party planner extraordinaire!!!

I love all these ideas and am going to bookmark this website for future b-day parties.

Especially love the favor boxes, the jet fuel, the airplane throwing contest, the balloons as clouds.

    Can't wait to see pictures!

  • Awesome!

The only things missing are the SkyMiles magazines and blue toilet water. ;)  Will you be dressing up?

If you don't already have the blow up planes for the clouds, I think Hobby Lobby has the (inexpensive) balsa wood planes.

  • I think that it's an awesome idea. How old is he going to be?

OH my gosh!  I never even thought of that - but on July 9th, I think it's going to be a no.  Plus, it's making me think of Britney Spears' "Toxic" video.

Yeah, I saw those airplanes at Hobby Lobby and they're on my list of possibles.  If those inflatables are too expensive, that is a great idea for my decorations.  I never even thought of that!

    FIVE!!!!  Can't believe it!

  • If you get those planes and need an activity - get some markers and let the kids color away.  Decoration, activity and favor all in one.

I thought of Brittney too with that photo.

I am struggling picturing 5 year old boys doing any sort of craft/coloring type activity so I didn't plan anything like that.  I could make this something they can do while waiting for the other kids to arrive?.

  • I don't have any 5 year old boys yet.  You are the expert here.  ;)  It's going to be such a great party.  I'm excited for you guys.
