Hello ladies! I feel like there are several recent posts on this board about moving to NC.. and I'm going to add another - hope you don't mind!
My husband just received notice that he was chosen by his company for transfer to Charlotte (from STL) to open new locations of QuikTrips (you will LOVE them!). I am a teacher - last year was my first year, and I signed a contract in April for this next school year - of course before knowing he would be chosen! Truthfully, my questions are:
1) Any advice/recs for areas to look into? We're thinking renting a home (we are currently in an apt and have grown out of it) in the area... we have no friends/family in the area so we're definitely not sure of anything!
2) Can anyone explain the school system of the area? I've seen CMS - but it seems like the districts and schools are set up differently here in STL. And, if anyone is a teacher... how certification works. I would love to at least be a substitute teacher for the time being.. to get my foot in the door. It's just hard to really grasp everything on the sites.
Thank you!! :-)
Re: Moving...
I dont have suggestions as I live up near Raleigh, but wanted to say Hi and I hope you like NC (Charlotte specifically). There are a lot of fun and great things there. It's really grown since I lived in Charlotte (we moved to the country when I was like 10).
Hope you guys have a save move!
Thank you NcsuPsych! :-) We have to make the decision pretty quickly... worst part is we made an offer on our dream home here in STL because we hadn't heard anything about the job move!
I really don't know much about the area, so any insight into Charlotte is much appreciated!
To my knowledge, in NC the public schools are run/based of the county they are in. I know that Charlotte schools are Mecklenburg county, but that is pretty much all I know, sorry.
Good luck!
