Have you met all the doctors in the practice yet? Every appointment I've had, they've switched me back and forth between Barnes and McIntyre. So I've never met Boyd or the other one. Plus Dr. Barnes is retiring in August, so I'm just wondering why I'm seeing him so often and not meeting the other doctors if he won't even be there when I deliver.
Just curious if you have had the same experience.

Wow, I didn't know Barnes was retiring! At my last u/s they asked me if I had met with all the doctors, 32 weeks, so I think they'll ask you then, and make sure you've seen them all. Barnes was the last one I had to meet with, and it was at that one so I was covered. I've only met with McIntyre once, I think she's mostly at the hospital, and Foutz seems to always be at the San Jose.
Dr. Barnes is male, about 40 years old, really nice and sweet. Only had him once.
Dr. Foutz is female, about 30 years old, also really nice. She was the one who I had when I was going to be flying and needed some Xanax, she did a bunch of research before prescribing it for me and seemed to be really careful and caring. Definitely liked that! I've had her the most, 3-4 times.
Part of me feels more comfortable with a woman for the delivery, but then Dr. Barnes seems to be a legend, clearly the most experience. I actually can say I feel really comfortable with any of the 4!
Thanks! I was thinking that- that Barnes and McIntyre were mostly at the hospital and Boyd and Foutz were mostly at San Jose and maybe that was why I had only met Barnes and McIntyre. I just want to be comfortable with whoever is at the delivery, you know?
Dr Barnes said they have another female dr coming into the practice when he leaves.
I completely understand! I was so happy after meeting with all 4 and doing the hospital tour, that practice is definitely the right one for me. I've never for a second questioned using them or Baptist Downtown for this pregnancy.
I also really like their bloodwork tech girl at San Jose, she knows I'm a fainter and is really sweet with it every time she does that and other checks.
I also love the blonde sono tech, she's really sweet and friendly, the brunette, not so much, but she only did our 1st one so it didn't matter much. The later 2 were much more exciting.
Butting in.. I didn't see Foutz until I was 37 weeks. Boyd was my favorite, so I scheduled almost all of my appointments with him. McIntyre delivered L and I couldn't have asked for a better experience (with the physician).
I believe the new doctor is GYN only.
I think I may do that next time I go.
I have not liked either of the sono techs. I can't remember which one did our a/s but I was not happy with her. Esp not after I saw all the pictures you got, so I was expecting something similar, and I only got the 2 of the feet, 1 of the hand, and 1 of the genitals. She was also not very personable.
That's been the only part of the office I haven't liked.
I really like the bloodwork girls at Downtown as well.
I meant to ask last time, did they start doing internals on you at 36 weeks? And then is it an internal every week?
