Pittsburgh Nestie looking for Annapolis recs

hi there! :)

Hoping you ladies can help me plan a day or so in Annapolis.  My H and I are in our early 30s, no kids and will be en route to OCMD in August (my 30th trip - yikes).  We are planning on leaving PGH after work on Friday and driving to Annapolis.  I've actually never been there.  We'd be arriving late (like 10pm ish).

I am hoping to spend the next dat (Sat) touring the waterfront a bit, and then continue on to OCMD in the afternoon to meet up with the rest of my family.   The Marriott Waterfront is sold out already, so I am planning on using points and staying at the Courtyard on Riva Rd.  Is this a decent location/easy access to the historical district?  Any other suggestions?  Trying to stay with Marriott = free.

So what should we see/do in a 1/2 day or so?  Any good breakfast / lunch places?  Any shops or boutiques not to be missed? We are thinking taking one of the Schooner bay cruises.  I am very open to suggestions and ideas.  What do you show off to your tourist friends?

 Thanks so much :)

Marcie from Pittsburgh

    Hi!

The Courtyard on Riva Road is a decent location, but it's not that close to the downtown area... which is fine if you don't mind not being able to grab a drink on Friday night.

With only a half day I don't know if I would try for any sort of cruise or tour.  The downtown area is pretty tight, Main Street, City Dock area and Maryland Avenue are all easily walkable and where most of the cute shops and places to eat are.

  • Since you'll have a car the Courtyard would be fine. It's not in downtown Annapolis but it will likely only take you 10 minutes to drive downtown on a Saturday morning. Boatyard Bar and Grill in Eastport is the closest place downtown I can think of that will have a good Saturday morning breakfast. If you're only going to be there for a half-day, I would probably do one of the shorter Watermark cruises so you get a chance to get out on the water but it doesn't eat up your whole day.

There are lots of ice cream places and Sofi's Crepes by the harbor if you want to grab a snack and walk around and look in the shops. I would go up Main Street and Maryland Avenue.

  • thanks for your thoughts :)
