Poll: What do you & DH do in the evenings?

Do you spend your evenings together? Do you each do your own thing (ex: he watches TV, you read?) Do you go to bed at the same time? Does it bother you either way (ex: you wish you spent more time together or you wish you had more "you" time?)

Re: Poll: What do you & DH do in the evenings?

  • We usually watch tv together while we watch dinner. A lot of times after dinner, we'll sit together doing on our thing (being on our individual computers, etc).

We rarely go to bed at the same time. I either get sleepy and go to bed or fall asleep on the couch and then DH will wake me up and tuck me in. He usually comes to bed a couple hours later.

Now that we are doing so much to the house, that routine is changing. We still watch tv together while we eat dinner but then we work on house projects or run errands together.

I like the way we do things.

  • My DH works 3pm - 2am 5 nights a week so I have plenty of "me" time. On the nights he is off we spend as much time as we can together. He does stay up later than me because he is a night owl do his work schedule.

I do wish he was home more but we make it work.

  • From August-May he has practice and games 6/7 nights of the week, so he gets home around 9-11pm. Sometimes I'm already in bed, I try to stay up until he gets home and at least read so I can see him for a minute. If it's earlier, around 9, I'll make him dinner and sit at the table and talk while he eats, then go to bed and he'll watch some TV.

During the summer and Christmas vacation, we'll eat dinner when I get home, then watch some TV (usually sports) or run errands, work out, go for a walk, etc.

  • I work out from 6 to 8 on Mon/Wed and he does the same time Tues/Thurs. Whoever is not working out is SUPPOSED to e in charge of dinner, but he's a slackass at that and I usually set up something in the crockpot on the days I work out. We eat at 8:30 then he does dishes while I get everything ready for work the next day, shower, mess around on the internet until 9:30 or so. Then we have a glass of wine and watch TV together with the dogs until we go to bed together around 11 or 12. But while we watch TV, we're both messing around on our BBs or reading. So we're together and talking when we want to, but kind of distracted.I'm pretty happy with how we do things. We each spend the days we're not working out alone while the other one is at the gym plus we do our own thing while we watch TV together and that works for me.Sorry, that was a lot of minute detail about our daily routine. lol
  • For the most part we spend most of our evenings together. We don't spend our entire weekend together, so I think it works well for us. We go to bed together, but he is usually asleep an hour before I am.

  • In the past we used to spend nights together, usually making dinner, watching tv, drinking wine, exercising, hanging out with neighbors. Since I started my business though I'm working in our office all evening, from the second I get home to pretty much until bedtime. I try to take a break to eat a quick dinner with him... he's had to cook it for at least the last month straight. Sometimes he'll go to the local bar with our neighbor when he doesn't feel like cooking.

It kind of sucks, but we spend almost every weekend together.

  • I get home about 7 and we eat dinner while watching tv. If I have overtime to work from home I set my laptop up in the living room and work while H watches tv, if I don't have to work then we both watch tv, play on the Internet and play with the furbabies. At 9 we both go to the bedroom to get ready for bed and read until 10. At 10 it's lights out. We're quite boring.

  • On weeknights we eat dinner together and watch tv. If im watching something DH hates he'll put on headphones ad watch something on his computer. Sometimes we run errands or go to Publix. We also go to bed at about the same time.
  • If DH isn't working or in class we usually make dinner and eat together in front of the TV. Then we'll hang out in bed and either watch a show that we both like, or one of us will read while the other watches TV. Sometimes we'll both read. I usually go to bed before he does but sometimes it's vice versa. Either way we're usually both in bed even if one of us isn't technically asleep.

  • DH and DS usually get home before me and DH has started dinner.  We eat together at 7pm, DS is having his nighttime bottle by 8pm, in bed by 8:15pm.  DH and I will then usually part ways with him playing video games and me watching tv or reading.  There are a few shows we watch together.  We go to bed at the same time pretty much every night...usually between 10:30 and 11:30pm.  This works well for us.
  • He is usually working on the computer while i make dinner.. we eat together and watch TV for an hour, maybe 2.. then DH wants to watch more TV, but I usually put the kabosh on that and work on photography stuff (he'll go back to working on his computer) or we'll both do some cleaning.

  • Typically one of us makes dinner while the other plays with B, we all eat together, then whoever didn't cook cleans up while the other entertains B.

After dinner, we relax, have dance parties (B's latest obsession), etc 'til about 7:15, then it's upstairs to get B showered.  He gets to watch a movie in our bed with one of us while the other takes care of whatever needs to be done (getting lunches together, taking out the trash, paying bills, etc..) and then we put him down between 8:30-9, then we get showered and go to bed.

  • Our schedules are awful right now and I really wish we could spend more time together. We get about an hour together a couple nights a week in the evenings and other than that, we just see each other on the weekends (and we both work most weekends, too). I get off work late most nights, when he's already in bed, and he leaves for work before I get up in the morning. It sucks right now but I know it will pay off in a year or two.
