OMG re: XH

I just got another call (this is the second one) from a debt collector regarding XH. The first was from Direct TV and this one was from rooms to go. He hasn't paid the bill since I left. I was kind of devious and acted like we were still happily married until the guy found my name on the information. The judge ruled that this debt was his, but if XH doesn't pay up they can come after me.

That would just be par for the course with this azzhole.

  • What? If the judge ruled the debt was his, how can they come after you?!

  • Ya, I didn't think they could hold you responsible if the judge ruled it his debt.  But, the collection agency probably still has your name/number on file and they will try whatever tactics they can to reach him.  I'd ask them to remove your # if they call again.
  • Since we were married when we bought the furniture I technically cosigned for it, that's how they can hang it over my head. If they call again I'm giving them his mother's #.

  • Wtf. That sucks! I'd be calling him every 3 minutes freaking out on his ass right now until he took care of it.

Okaaaaay... but you're not married anymore (or won't be shortly) and the judge ruled the debt as his, no? I'd consult a lawyer. Even if you give them his mom's number, I would want to make sure I wasn't on the hook for this.
  • Here's some information about getting collectors to stop calling:

Thanks for this, i'll use it next time! Im not even sure if his # and email are the same because i emailed him about a month and a half ago about the papers and he never responded. I havent had any contact with him in at least 2 months. Right now, since they're still going after him and not me, I'm not going to talk to the lawyer, but if they actually try to go after me I will.
