So I had to take Mckenzie yesterday for a follow-up appt with the pedi, they heard a slight heart murmur at her appt last week, pedi said she wanted her back in a week to re-check it again.
Pedi said she can still hear it so she has referred us to see a pediatric cardiologist. They never heard a murmur previously so I don't know if her being sick/having fevers made it more noticeable? She really didn't know. The pedi said that we shouldn't worry and cardio will either monitor it or do an echo to check it out. She said its common for them to heal up on their own.
I'm trying not to get worried but its hard not to. I'm waiting for the pedi's office to call so we can get the appt set up - if I could please ask for more good thoughts, vibes, prayers, whatever May 08 will give, we would greatly appreciate it. I'll keep you posted!
Re: More T&P...this time for M
Vibes for M!
My brother was born with a hole in his heart, it mostly healed itself and he now has a murmur. He couldn't join the military because of it but he has been a fireman for 5 years now and played sports his whole life. Just wanted to tell you that so you can have an idea of what a murmur can mean. I hope M doesn't have it at all though and that you don't have to worry about it
T&Ps for M.
The echo isn't a big deal, if she does have to have one. K had one when he was really little because his hematologist wanted to make sure his heart could handle the steroids. It is just like an u/s but on the heart. Getting him to hold still was the hardest part, but we brought toys and his bottle to help keep him entertained and still. Just wanted to let you know exactly what an echo is so you don't stress about that part.

Thoughts for you and your sweet girl!
I also had a heart murmur when I was younger. Didn't know about it until I was in middle school and then it went away. For some reason they seem to be super common and not a big deal in the grand scheme of things so try not too stress!!
Thanks ladies!
Yeah, the pedi said if they did an echo it'd be hard to keep her still since she's a wiggler. I talked to the cardiologists office this morning, sounds like we won't get into see the doctor for a few weeks as they see patients based on their status (more serve heart conditions first). I'd prefer to have her seen sooner then later for peace of mind but I doubt I can get her in with one of the other pediatric cardiologists in the area since I'm sure its a referral basis only with the specialty they practice...
Yeah that is what I'm hearing, but its hard not to be concerned. I'm trying not to let it get to me and thinking good thoughts. She is in the 97th percentile for weight and 95th for height which is good, cardio's office said babies with murmurs that they are concerned with are not growing well
