Now that it's pretty much bikini weather up here, I was thinking of buying a new suit. I've gained all this weight during the winter though (and post wedding, really). I'm so embarrassed! I don't mind how I look naked, but I just know I'll not like the bikini look. Anyone else feeling bikini-phobic (and they weren't before)? Maybe I should just find a nudist beach.

Re: bikini horrors
Me Me Me! I have a pool in my backyard so I have been out in my bikini this summer and while I am more self-conscience than normal I still am trying to have the "I don 't care that I am a fatty" attitude.
I must say, after going to Jamaica and hanging out at the au natural beach, I am much more accepting of my "flaws."
Hence why I have not been to be beach yet (although it really haven't been warm enough that often) and also my salad as a side to my burger last night instead of tater tots or mac & cheese.
I've been starting into running again and definitely feel like I can already tell a difference. Thank goodness

I defintely do not have a bikini body, but to me having that quantity of my ghostly white skin exposed is much more frightening.
I don't mind being in a bikini far away on vacation where I don't know anyone, but around friends and family I am definitely more self conscious.
I totally forgot about that aspect. As a ginger, I have absolutely no prospect of tanning and so I'm whiter than an albino dolphin. Plus tankinis/one-pieces cut down on the amount of sunscreen I go through
Same here
All of this, except I'm a very fair-skinned brunette. People expect me to be tan just because I live on the Gulf coast of FL, but I rarely have time to work on a tan, and I use a high-SPF sunblock when I know I'll be out in the sun for any length of time. I also do not have a bikini body, so I wear the "board short" style of suit bottoms (to cover my larger bottom half) with tankini tops. :-)
I haven't worn a bikini since I was a little kid because I'm a Fatty Mcfatpants lol but surprisingly enough, I'm totally comfortable in a bathing suite. I have a tankini and a 1 piece and feel like I look pretty cute in both. It has never ever bothered me; I think I realized at a young age that everyone is so worried about how they look in a bathing suite that they are more focused on themselves than they are you.
Think about it, if you are laying on a beach having fun are you really sitting there judging how other people look? If I see some super hottie I'll glance a couple times but I never give the average Jane and Joe Smith a second glance. I think the majority of people are this way, or at least I hope so because it sure makes me feel more comfortable thinking no one gives a crap how I look in my bathing suite.
