Weekly Book Post!

I'm currently re-reading Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy for the 800th time. I just can't get enough of that book! Puts a pretty humorous spin on pregnancy :)

Re: Weekly Book Post!

  • I am reading Sin in the Second City. It is all about the Red Light District in Chicago in early 1920s (I think), specifically about these 2 sisters who ran a brothel and treated the women exceptionally well gave them educations and fare wages and what not.

    It is super interesting.

  • I just finished reading Cutting for Stone and although the story is well written, sad, and amazing at times, it just doesn't compare to a few other books that I've read this year. Unbroken and the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks really raised the bar!

  • I read Dan Brown's the Lost Symbol.  It wasnt' bad, but it was just more of the same.

I am also reading Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz.   I have read Brother Odd already, and this is the first book.  Odd can see ghosts (Elvis follows him around) and he kind of knows when really bad things are going to happen.  They are fun reads.

I just requested the book Dexter since I am watching the series on Netflix/DVD.

  • Right now about 1/2 way through Happily Ever After, the 4th and last book in one of Nora Roberts series. Good, quick, easy, light read.

Just recently finished Alone by Lisa Gardner. Good, a little slow to start, but ended up pulling me in. (Suspense type story).

  • I am reading She, Myself, and I by Whitney Gaskell.  I really like it.  It is good chick lit.  I have previously read Testing Kate and Pushing 30 by her.
  • I'm still reading my book about teaching writing.  I hope to finish it by the weekend.

I am also reading The Invisible Bridge.  It is a book about 3 Jewish brothers, although it has mainly focused on one and I am not sure if this will change, during WWII and the Holocaust.  It is really good although not too much has happened yet.

  • I am reading "Plain Truth" by Jodi Picoult, it's really good so far.  I have never read any of her books before and I'm liking this one!
  • I'm reading Heaven is For Real and it's super good. It's written by the father of a little boy who was in the hospital for emergency surgery and the boy's stories from when he was in heaven for 3 minutes during that time.

  • STILL slogging through The Piano Teacher.  Usually by now I've either finished a book or given up.  I just hope the ending isn't a disappointment.
