Yesterday our real estate agent organised an awkward appointment to show someone through our house.
The time meant DH had to get up after only 3 hours sleep from night shift, the agent was 10 mins late for the appointment, and the buyer was looking for a house with a driveway (which we don't have) and only wanted to spend $350,000 (we told the agent we wouldn't sell for less than $360,000).
It was a complete waste of our time, and the agent suggested knocking $10,000 off the price before he left. All this after he was the one that suggested we list it for an even Higher price initially!!
So I sacked him. I emailed him from work saying we wanted to take it off the market, and that I will try selling it myself in a couple of months.
I am nervous about his reply..... I don't like confrontation much.
Re: Sacked my Estate Agent
Don't be nervous! If you feel he was not doing his job effectively (I mean hey-looo mixed messages much?? "Sell it for this price" "Oh just kidding drop it $10,000") then find someone who will be clear and helpful the get-go.
It's real estate lady, I'm sure your former agent has dealt with this before. It sounds like you were professional, and nice in your email, so hopefully he'll recip.
Sounds like it was a good call. I fired mine after a while on the market. Then I walked around the other open houses in our neighborhood and talked to their agents and hired one of them. It worked out nicely b/c she split the open houses b/w the two properties and anytime she had a walk through of one property, she always got them to go to the other one. My house sold in no time.
Don't feel guilty. You need to do what you need to do. It is a business, not a relationship.
Souds to me like your agent was a good example of Whiskey Tango Incompetent
LOL
Don't worry about sacking him - if you can't sell your house yourself, you can always hire a new agent. Sending you nestie thoughts and vibes
My Blog
Thanks for the all thoughts guys, it was much easier than I thought to 'dump' him.
Fingers crossed we can get some interest ourselves at a lower price. Will keep you updated.
