Can some one recommend a good vacuum for under $75?

Our vacuum died last week and I am looking for a decent one to last through the summer, we'll have hard wood in our townhouse this fall. So I don't want to spend a ton on one.

Bagless is preferable, and would be good for pet hair.

Thanks so much!

Re: Can some one recommend a good vacuum for under $75?

  • Walmart has a bagless for $30-something.  We;ve used ours a couple of years already and it runs like new.  We have only wood and tile and no carpet and this one still works great.

I also have a $300+ Oreck ready for the trash that totally bit the dust (haha) and cannot be repaired.  I took it in several times and confirmed there is nothing they can do.

  • It's a little over your price point, but I just bought a Hoover Wind Tunnel T-Series at Home Depot for $99 and I've only used it once but it was amazing! Its bagless, and we used it in our new house on the carpet. The previous owners cleaned the house really well, but we figured we'd go over the carpet in the living room again (we'll get it professionally cleaned once we finish renovations). They had two dogs and a cat, and the vacuum sucked up two canisters of pet hair. The carpet is a light beige, and looked perfectly clean, and when we saw what the vacuum sucked up, we were amazed!
