It is SLOW in here! Let's talk about summer plans.
Anyone planning anything fun??
We're not doing anything huge - just a few small trips around New England: out to a B&B in Western MA (Lenox) for a few nights to see the Boston Symphony Orchestra play at Tanglewood; a night on Block Island, RI; and as much time at our place on the Cape as we can get (although it looks like we won't have a chance to get down there until August.)
My parents and sisters are also coming out for 2 weeks next month, so I'm excited for that!
Re: It is SLOW in here! Let's talk about summer plans.
We don't have any concrete plans yet. I have a friend getting married out east in September, but we're not sure if we'll be invited or not because it's going to be a small wedding. If we are invited, we'll probably spend a week or so out there.
Kyle's brother who is currently in Afghanistan will get a week of leave in August. I think that he is planning to vacation rather than come home, so we might meet up with him that week.
Otherwise no other big plans. We're really just waiting to see how these two things play out and then we'll make our other plans from there. We booked our vacation last summer really late and it worked out fine, so we may do the same this year.
We have some long weekends planned - camping/bicycle riding near Aspen next week, then camping/bicycle riding in Crested Butte in July. My brother is getting married in California in August, then we're tagging along on their honeymoon to Vegas for a few days. We're also planning a backpack trip or two, and maybe another camping/bicycling trip to Durango. And I'll be moving my daughter into her college dorm in Missouri.
On the home front we're still renovating the backyard and hope to have most of it done this month so we can enjoy it.
We have several long weekends planned throughout the summer - Buena Vista with DH's family and Lake McConaughy with my family. We're also going to my family reunion in New Mexico in July.
We also want to get away just the two of us for a long camping weekend but haven't decided where to yet.
Other than that we'll be working on the house.
I don't have to much going on this summer. I am going to Detroit for my Grandpa's 80th birthday in July. It should be a lot of fun. I designed the invitations and my grandparents were so impressed. Now when my brother and I show up with a video and a photo book of 80 years of photos they may be speechless.
We just took a long weekend in Savannah. It was a lot of fun and relaxing.
Other than that exploring more restaurants/parks/festivals here in the city.
Nothing too big going on for us. We still want to do a long weekend for our anniversary--not sure where, but I'm looking to LivingSocial Escapes to help us decide. We'd also like to do some other weekend trips around the area. We're invited to a bat mitzvah in FL, too, and we're thinking about it. I'd like to go to MI sometime this summer, but that might not happen (we're going for Christmas, though).
If things pan out like I think they will, I'll be headed to the middle of the South Pacific for 10 days. Eleven flights in total for the entire trip. Yikes.
We're going to Portland for the Red, White and Blues festival over 4th of July. I can't wait to see Buddy Guy. http://www.waterfrontbluesfest.com/
We'll have my step-daughter with us for 2 weeks in July. She's going to cooking camp one week and DH gets to stay home and entertain her the other week. Should be fun.
Then at the end of July we're hoping up to AK for a long weekend to see my parents and friends. My ex-coworkers sent me $100 gift certificate to my birthday for a wine bar only in their town, so I better go use it!
DH's family is trying to arrange something for his parents 40th anniversary in August. Right now the talks are everyone meeting 1/2 which would mean in the middle of nowhere Montana.
I was told yesterday by my bosses I am expected to be in the office every day for the rest of the year after that trip.. lol we'll see how that works out.
Besides having a baby, haha, we are planning at at least one beach weekend this summer! My mom is coming to stay with us for July, which I am SO excited about! And my brother might be coming to visit to meet the little guy in August! We have alot to look forward to this summer.

Aside from fundraising, I plan on getting my curriculum together for this next school year (wow that's nerdy). Also we have Door County with my family in August, and a bunch of weddings between now and then.
I am also hopefully looking forward to being selected by a birthmother this summer, and if not maybe becoming a foster parent. We are opening our home to strictly foster placements until we bring home our baby.
I am taking a geography class, an assessment and instruction workshop, and a co-teaching workshop this summer, plus I am part of our school improvement team and our educational support team, so I have some summer work for both committees.
Other than that, I plan to do a lot of running, reading, and relaxing. We want to go to NYC with my parents to see a Yankee game, and maybe go away for another long weekend somewhere. And if we are really lucky, maybe I'll get pregnant again by the end of summer (fingers crossed!).

We will be going to Northern California in 2 weeks for a wedding, I'm not too excited about that seeing how I have to see MIL.
The 2nd weekend in July we are doing our annual girls trip, it should be interesting to be one of the 2 sober pregnant ones this year. Other than that the usual camping trips and a 4 day concert in Idaho.
My sister is getting married in September so a lot of the summer is going to be spent planning showers and getting ready for that. I'll be 23 weeks and her maid of honor, it should be quite the sight to see!
