Gah, new mom fail

I had my 34 week check up today. Everything was good, heartbeat was normal, my growth is right on track and I still haven't gained any weight since starting my diet. Yay me!

Dr. told me that we're going to do another u/s at 36 weeks to check growth, fluid levels, etc. I'm thrilled because one of my concerns is that she's going to be huge due to the early excessive weight gain on my part. Instead, the first thing that popped out of my mouth was "oh good because we're a little worried that she might be a he".

Duh, really? That's the only thing I could think of? Dr. sent me to the best ultrasound specialist in the state, and she assured me that they're never wrong. Of course I couldn't think of any of my other concerns until after my appointment. So yes, that's right folks, apparently I'm one of those moms that only cares about the sex of her child and not their health. Goooo me! Embarrassed

Re: Gah, new mom fail

  • Yay for another u/s- although fair warning, it will not be at all like the anatomy scan- not much room for baby to go so everything is all squished together!

My sister made several comments prior to her anatomy scan about wanting a girl that led people to tell her she should just want a healthy baby...but DUH, everyone wants a healthy baby! But, you are at the point where you've spent all kinds of money on girl stuff so a boy would be a huge surprise- I'm sure your doc knew you didn't mean that you only cared about the sex!!!

(P.S....extra points to you for avoiding one of my biggest pet peeves by rightly calling it the 'sex' instead of the 'gender')

  • LOL. Of course you want a healthy baby - that's a given! But I'm that way, too - I am always afraid of being that mom who only seems to care about the sex.

Yeah, the tech gave us a pic of her face at our 40 week u/s, neither if us could tell it was a face, lol. And I'm sure he's heard worse! No worries, Ali.

You are probably right, my town isn't exactly full of the best and brightest. There was a girl that went in before me, dressed in super tight jeans and a super tight tank top that showed more than anyone cared to see, huge gold hoop earrings and jewelery. She brought a friend that was equally dressed in a short mini skirt, super tight top and huge gold jewelery.  I was thinking "really, you got that dressed up to come see the doctor? must have been a boring day at the whore house". Flame away!
