Follow-up to birth story...MIL stories
So the dreaded time has arrived...dealing with my MIL and the baby.
They ended up coming down Friday and Saturday. Friday MIL came down with SIL only, Saturday MIL, FIL and niece and nephew came down.
Friday, I was still on a high from the drugs and not able to get out of bed, so I was a bit more tolerant. Saturday, I wanted to deck her.
Here are some "isms" from Friday:
- "Oh, I see Miles got all the (last name) dominant genes." WTF, he looks a little like me I think.
- "Miles has mine, Kari (SIL) and Brooke's (niece) nose". Umm, no, he has my nose. I have my baby pictures and it is an exact match.
- (her cell phone rings, she answers) "Oh I am down in Detroit visiting my baby boy!!!". Steve shot me a look, like she just didn't say that. I am the one literally bleeding from the baby, not her.
- She kept poking all around his face making up features that were from their side of the family. She was calling his chin a dimple and that "he got daddy's dimples"
- She also was making up why I had to get a c-section. I can only imagine the story running around MP. In her eyes, it was my back pain. Did you miss the whole, bleeding thing??
- They were also talking about DH's cousin who "got really big" this pregnancy. I have seen her, she hasn't at all...she is all belly. It was just so rude. Then they proceeded to ask me how much weight I gained in total which I told them I just birthed it all out so there is your answer.
- She gave us some "Prince" onesie set that someone she knows "bought at some Indian people's garage sale". It is 18 months and we will never ever use it. Steve has said "And that is why we never told you what we were having."
Saturday "isms"
- They were supposed to be at the hospital by 2:30. My BF was coming at 5...I didn't want a room full of people hanging out and who wants to be around MIL? Well she refused to follow the directions and got lost an hour out of the way. They didn't arrive until 5 and were constantly calling the entire time about how they went the wrong way. Funny thing is, I called his from the get go because this is what happens every time they come down here. And they have a GPS.
- They all come storming into the room and again, MIL starts poking at Miles' face talking about imaginary dimples and dominant genes.
- She bought some camera and was screaming about taking pictures non stop, un-swaddling him to take the pictures, etc.
- She asked me 10 times if my milk had come in yet.
- She was holding him and started yelling, "Steve he is choking, Steve he is choking" and handed the baby off to him. He was yawning. And that little panic episode is why you will not be watching the baby. Ever.
- She made up some imaginary date that FIL is going to come down and we are all going to go to the Tigers game and she is going to watch Miles. Umm, no. See previous bullet.
- She asked us when we are getting him baptized...even through they didn't baptize DH until he was 4. Don't make up some summer date for us, it is our business.
- Her comment on his name "the only Miles we know is an 80 year old man."
- She was trying to take the baby from FIL and ended up basically juggling him over FIL's head with niece and I had to yell at them.
I know there is more...I just can't remember them all right now.

I'm sorry you had to deal with that! For the next baby, make sure to tell the nurse staff ahead of time that you don't want her there for long.
I am not ashamed to admit that I did that for my MIL. The nurses are good about kicking everyone out anyways
They did kick her out a few times, thank god...but she kept coming back.
I am speechless.
