Alright, so next Wednesday K turns 1. Surprise  How the hell did that happen!

Anyways, his party is on the following Saturday in my hometown with all of my family.  We'll still be over here though on his birthday.

What should we do??  We only have 5 adults to invite - MIL/FIL, a friend of ours and her parents who love K like their grandchild.  No kids.  We would have to wait till after 5 to do something.

Would pizza and cake here be fine?  That's about all I can think of.  I don't want to really do too much since around 7pm is his bedtime.

Just wondering what you did if you had their party on a different day?  I still want to acknowledge the day he was born.

  • we had B's party on his bday last year...bc it was summer and i really didnt WANT it to be that big (wed evening). we still had a good turnout though. thsi year, we're going to have the party on Fri night and B's bday will be Thursday. we'll still celebrate with just us with maybe a small cake and special dinner on thursday (prob pizza...B loves pizza). so i don't think that's a bad idea at all!

  • I think pizza and cake sounds perfectly reasonable for a small gathering.
  • I agree it sounds good to me.  Something to still awknowledge it but small since you're having a party later on.
  • On her first birthday, we had a normal day. We got her professional pics taken and went out to dinner. On her second, we had a normal day but we went out for pizza and ice cream. We let her open gifts from us on her actual birthday and sang to her as well both years.
