This may be TMI because I'm going to talk about my period. So feel free to hit the back button now.
--------------------------------------------------------------
So I didn't get a period for 60 days. Not a big deal for me but I've been down this road before and it resulted in several months of bleeding and instances of hemmorhaging twice in the ER and once on the Central American island of Roatan. Ultimately I ended up with a D&C. Having my baby bag scraped was great for me, I was instantly on regular 30 days cycles consistantly for about a year -a record for me.
When FIL died things started to get $hitty at our house and H's workload and school load were immense. I started getting stressed out big time being around his grumpy and grieving _ass. Then my workload hit the fan and I was working 12 hour days 5x a week and sometimes coming in on the weekend. I would go to acupuncture and they would do things that are supposed to bring on a period. Three weeks of that not working they were ready to hook my uterus up to a car battery with jumper cables to get it going.
I finally got one in early May. Great! Except It's still going and we're almost half way through June
I called the doctor - she's on maternity leave so they have me see another doctor. This doctor was not familiar with my history so I had to go through the whole thing with her and she was unimpressed with my whole- "I didn't have a period for a long ass time and now it won't stop. But sometimes it does stop and turns into spotting then nothing. Just enough to trick me into going out in public unprotected only to ruin every pair of underwear I own" story.
I requested she order me an ultrasound (u/s). The tech at the u/s says "Man looks like you're going to be getting a monster period soon". "Gee thanks Betch -too bad I'm already on it" would you like to "predict" that Japan will have major earthquakes or tsunamis too? Another week goes by, I call the Dr. to be a pest and ask if there's anything they can do to make my ute cooperate.
And now to the funny part:
The RN calls me back and says "we're going to prescribe you this pill. You take it for two weeks and it should stop the bleeding, Oh and FYI, when you're done taking it you'll get a period.
Thank you so much, Nurse!!!
So then I go the pharmacy and pick up this script, I'm reading the drug info. "Used for Breast and Utererine cancer patients (not me). Also used in terminal patients or malnourished patients to increase appetite (again not me, and I need to eat less, not more).
I finally found some tiny chat board that some people said that they have been prescribed this for the same problem so I will still take it.
I want my regular doctor back. And I'm really really hungry.
Re: I found this ironic- Period Related
I'm really sorry you are having these problems that must suck.
We apparently do not have the same sense of humor though because i am missing the funny part.
I'm really sorry you're going through this. I find a sense of humor in bad situations too.
As I said to my PCP once, I could either laugh or cry, but I'm still going to be in pain, so I'd rather be laughing! She said that's a good attitude to have.

This has been my approach through cancer and infertility and now this freakin' never ending period. I can't imagine if I couldn't laugh at the ridiculousness of somethings we have to go through as patients. I think I'd either be crying or very rageful.
I think you meant "funny" as in "ironic". I totally get that.
What a major biatch AF is being to you!! I really hope this weird pill gets you back to "normal".
Yes. Ironic is what I meant. Thank you.
I'm sorry you are dealing with that.
My mom had her period for 9 weeks straight, they ended up putting her on BC and that put her back to normal. This was a while ago though. Maybe there are better ways now.
Also make sure your iron intake is good, you wouldn't want to pass out or become anemic because of this.
I got the irony.
) I'm sorry your ute is being a beech. Hopefully the new pill kicks it into shape!
This is semi-off-topic, but FWIW, I think you're a good storyteller (especially compared to some of the train-wreck posts I've seen on TN). Your work posts always crack me up. Are you coming to the GTG tonight? (I don't know/can't remember your first name or I would check the list.)
AGREED.
Have you read her blog? that's good storytellin' too
Thanks Mara. Sometimes I'm horrified of how long my stories are on here. I can't make it out to Buca tonight because I've got family in town left over from my Grampa's surprise party we had this past sunday.
Lol! Thanks! Are you my "1" follower? I need to find a way to update my sig and put the link in there. I know my humor isn't appreciated by everyone and that's okay with me.
For what it's worth I spit water on my screen yesterday when you said "Hey kuntz" about the Jess poll.
Oooo, I didn't know there was such a blog! Link please?
Here's the link, Mara:
