what kind of meeting is this?
My hubby ran into an old friend of ours and shared that I was looking for a new position. The friend said there was a great opportunity in his office and asked to set up a time to meet with me.
So, we are scheduled to meet for coffee friday morning at 8:30 at a local cafe.
I am not sure what to do, how to dress, what to bring.
He is Director/Executive Director and the position he mentioned to my husband is also fairly high up. I did email him my resume but he didnt reply. Not sure if it matters but another very high up/respected individual is serving as a reference.

Black pants or skirt, low heels, nice top
Bring a copy of your resume just in case. You don't have to flash it around, but have it handy.
I'd come armed with questions about the position and the company.
GL!

I agree with the previous two posters. I was in a similiar situation last year and I wore a nice pant suit (not an interview skirt suit) and a few printed copies of my resume. I had placed each resume in an individual envelope to make it easier for the person to carry it back to the office.
And we had a good conversation about the company, the work and the culture. I did end up interviewing, but ultimately not selected. But this was a "friend of a friend" networking kind of thing. But it was a really nice way to get info on a prospective employer. And who knows, maybe it's another network for another opportunity?
I had a similar meeting with someone a few weeks ago. I know the person through the non-profit I work for and she invited me to coffee to give me "the skinny" on the job opportunity she heard of. Basically I told her I'd love to hear about the position and asked some follow up questions about the day to day tasks and went over some things in my resume with her to fish out my relevant experience. She also told me the salary range, but I didn't ask. She also told me she'd put in a good word for me, and to mention her when I submitted my materials. I wore my regular 9-5 business clothes and I brought a copy of my resume with me. Good luck!
