I am currently employed in a position I love. However my husband is military, thus relocation every two years (at this point in his career, that is how often we relocate until he retires in four years).
I have applied for a couple of "open to telework" positions at Aetna. I can't tell, however, if they expect telework employees to be in the geographical location of the branch for which they are working. Currently, I live in Montana and we are sure we'll be staying in-country. If anyone works there, can you tell me if they require teleworkers to be near the branch for which they work?
Also, do you enjoy working there? I am so impressed by the company as I read about it. It looks like a fantastic company to work for and it seems the company has a real passion for its mission.

I recently started working there (in April). I like it a lot. Some days it's annoying because there is a ton of information online (they are a very green company, and pretty much every resource is online), but it's in many different places. So sometimes you waste time looking for the resource you need. And things change pretty much every day- so once you feel like you know how to do something, the process gets changed. So as long as you are adaptable and accept that things change a lot, it's a great company (so far, IMO).
I'm not sure on this, but I thought I heard someone say that you have to work there a year first before you can work at home. But I'm not certain on this. I also think you have to be doing a good job in your position to be allowed to work at home.
I don't think matters how far you live from the office you work for. I'm in Ohio and one of my team members lived in South Carolina and just moved to Tennessee.
I know not all offices are the same, but I work with a group of great people, directly on my team and on other teams in my building. Good luck- hope you get some interviews! It really is a great company, at least in my limited experience so far.
