I need some book suggestions. I finished the Hunger Games trilogy and can't find anything new.
Anyone reading anything good?
Re: What are you reading?
I just finished The Poisoner's Handbook which was about the use of poison in the first half of the 20th century and the development of forensic medicine and toxicology. A very good read even if you are not a science nerd.
I am currently reading The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult. I'm not really into it. I just picked it up one day when I was babysitting at my sisters and forgot my own book. Its an easy read though so I will finish it up.
Next on my reading list are: The Bucolic Plague, which if you watch The Fabulous Beekman Boys you know what this is and Never Suck a Dead Man's Hand, which is a book written by a real crimnologist about real crime scene investigation.
I also have Freakonomics on my iPod for my long drives. I am really enjoying that so far.
I loooooved Hunger Games. The first book was my favorite and I agree that the last book dragged a little. I read Room. It was disturbing (which I guess is the point!)
I really like freakonomics.I read it a couple years ago. I'm thinking about reading it again. I don't always agree with the views but they are interesting to hear the opinions.
I'm a big Stephen King reader, right now I'm re-reading The Stand.
Before that I did Nora Roberts bridal quartet books very good read!
and before that i did the shopaholics book again very fun quick reads!
Right now I'm reading The Help for my bookclub next week. I'm only a bit of the way in, but so far I like it.
I'm also kind of reading on the side, My Horizontal Life by Chelsea Handler. I've read some of her others and they're all kind of a nice "mindless" read.
I bought Horizontal Life because it was on sale for $1.99 via Amazon's Sunshine Ebook Sale (boo, I was going to link it, but I think it's over)

I didn't like that one as much as "Hello Vodka, Are you There...." I thought that was hilarious and My Horizontal Life was kind of blah. How are you liking it? Have you read "Hello Vodka..."?
I just finished reading "Ghost Hunting Maryland" lol...you all know I'm into that kind of stuff and over the years people have given me different books like that but I only ever flipped through them rather than actually read the whole thing, so I just read it cover and cover and liked it; it gave tons of history about the areas which was cool and something you don't often get from 'ghosts' books. They have them for a lot of different states, so if you're into that kind of stuff, I recommend them; it's especially cool when they feature places your familiar with.
I just got two new books last night (Jason bought them for me, aww
). One is "Just After Sunset" by Stephen King and the other is "Unbearable Lightness" which is Portia De Rossi's autobiography. I tend to read lovey-dovey dramatic books so I wanted to switch it up. I'm starting "Just After Sunset" first...has anyone read that? If so, how was it?
I read "Recipes for a Perfect Marriage" by Morag Prunty not too long ago and really liked that. It's not a self help book although it sounds like one. It was an easy read that had a really good message/idea behind it.
I read "Room" back in the winter (Thanks again Christie!) and enjoyed it although I felt the first half of the book was 100 times better than the second half.
I'm about 2/3 of the way through The Book Thief, which I am not loving. I don't know why, because the writing is there, and the story is compelling, but I just can't seem to get invested. I'm determined to finish it, though. I just finished up Spoiled by the Fug girls, (Heather and Jessica), and it was hilarious. A great summer read - I think I read it in a day or something. And I also read Jen Lancaster's If You Were Here, which was funny, but I didn't love it as much as her memoirs.
I've got Chuck Klosterman's Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs in line next, as well as If I Stay by Gayle Forman.I LOVED Hello Vodka!
You're right, Horizontal isn't as good...but it's okay. Bang Bang was pretty good too. DH hates when I read Chelsea books b/c I'll be laughing to myself the whole time I'm reading while he's trying to concentrate. Lol.
I want to read her new book too. She did a book signing here for it and I debating going but didn't. I regret that!!

I find myself laughing out loud when I read her books too! I haven't read Bang Bang yet, I'll have to look into getting that one and her new one as well. I like to wait until books go on the "Under $10" shelf at Barns & Noble lol so it may be a while but I'll eventually get it.
