I just scheduled a mani/pedi and I am SUPER excited about it. I seriously go about once a year and generally go with very neutral, boring colors. I have seen so many cute, funky colors but I am a bit nervous that it will look tacky at work. I work at a college, and our department is fairly laid back but I am still a bit nervous.
What do you girls wear for nail polish? Fun and funky or neutral and boring?
Bonus if you PIP a color that you like
Re: Nail polish
I honestly don't think about it that much, but I am probably on one extreme side. I am outdoors active so my nails are always trimmed (or bit) to the bed. I do get pedicures, usually deep red or black nail polish.
I am always impressed by women that keep low-cut, natural color nails -- maybe with a low french cut. I think that looks most professional. But if you have a colorful attitude, a bright color could be fun. The biggest thing is keeping your nails at a professional length. I think long, fake nails with nail art or crazy colors really detract from professionalism.
OPI (a brand of polish) releases new colors every month or so. Typically nail salons have them displayed. you really can't go wrong with OPI (or Orly - wich is my favorite).
if you want something fun on the off times you don't get manicures, try the sally hansen stickers. I did it for the first time last night and it was super easy. My sister (a 5th grade teacher) does them all the time and said they last a good 10 days if not a little longer. They're about $10 bucks but usually you can find them on sale or a coupon for $8.50.
I work in the library of a medical university. We are very laid back and have a very casual dress code. As long as our nails are neat, they don't care what color they are. I'd say 90% of the time I have on a color of polish that at least some people would consider funky. I started a blog not long ago (link in my siggy) and you can see some colors there.
Here are a few (ok, more like a million) of my faves that while funky are still maybe more subdued.

I hope this helps!
Plus, I have to add... be careful getting pro manicures and pedicures. I do my own fingernails, always, but I used to get pedicures regularly. I ended up with toenail fungus from what is a very reputable salon. No matter how safe and clean they are, it's can't be 100% clean. There are so many fingers and toes in those places daily, that they just can't be 100% safe. So be careful. I HIGHLY suggest that you (at the very least) take your own tools, files, and polish when getting a mani or pedi in a salon. It's worth the extra bit of hassle!!!
