extreme couponing

two things... first, they don't seem to count how much they are paying when they buy coupons from clipping services. i guess it's negligable next to what they are paying, but still. also, when they get a coupon from the catalina, where do they find out that that's going to happen? is there somewhere online that tells you that?
Me:39 Dx LPD, Fibroid, AMA and all that goes with that. H:37 Dx low motility and low morphology. TTC since 3/12. Clomid 8/12 and 9/12: BFN. 11/12 on a break for Myomectomy sched. 11/26. Resume TTC early 2013.

Re: extreme couponing

  • Uh yeah, I would really like to know how much they spend on that (the clipping services/purchasing coupons, etc).  And yeah sorry but I'm not into dumpster diving in order to find extra coupons so I can buy 30 bottles of Maalox or whatever.

I mean I KNOW they're getting a LOT for next to nothing, but really, it seems like such a waste of resources and time.  J caught a few minutes of one episode this afternoon and commented on the women who were sitting around the table clipping away while the baby sat nearby in a bouncy seat or high chair - you'd rather spend hours on end clipping coupons like that rather than spending that time with your kid?

One of the biggest reasons I DON'T coupon and match coupons to sales, etc is because it's time consuming.  I'd rather spend that time with my little ones.  (Sure I follow the deal blogs and skim over them, but I rarely do any of it anymore unless it's a deal on Amazon or another online deal.)  I mean one lady said she spends 60 hrs a week couponing... seriously??  She had a planner detailing how and when she does certains parts of her couponing and it was kind of insane.

yeah it's a full time job or shall i say obsession. this lady said she saved 40,000 for her family in two years but if she spends 60 hours a week doing it then that's not really all that great of a salary ($20k a year). tonight i was watching and in the middle of the checkout they had already been there 6 hours.

Indifferent  I just don't have the drive to save if it's that much work. Plus, how can the average person store all of that? I know a lot of them say they donate the excess but to me it still seems kind of wasteful. I don't need 16 bottles of BBQ sauce sitting in my pantry.
