SYTYCD Last night (omgspoilers)

I watched this when I got home. Here are my thoughts:

* I loved Melanie and Marko's statue dance, seriously, Travis Wall is going to be a very successful choreographer

*I actually thought Sonya Tayeh's piece was a little weak? Good dancing, but weak. I normally love Sonya, but I know not every dance will be a hit.

*My power blipped and my TiVO takes like 10 minutes to restart so I missed the Ashley/Chris hiphop completely, but the clip of it at the end looked WEAK. How was that?

*I felt like the dances were not randomly assigned. Seriously, Iveta getting quickstep (which, btw, was almost magical, IMO).

I have such a hard time with names, but I really liked most of the dances. I don't think they actually said that the dances were randomly assigned. I thought they were giving the people dances in their own genres.

The credits at the end said the dances were randomly assigned.

I was just telling Sheila this morning that there's no way the dances were randomly assigned. Nigel last week even made a comment about giving some of the tappers a tap routine.

I pretty much agree with everything. Melanie is my fave from auditions and this week just reaffirmed it. I love Travis! I guess we'll see how she holds up with the other styles

I'm somewhat over Sonya Tayeh. Her style is unique, but all her dances are pretty similar. Everyone now and then she has a "wow" piece, but then the rest kind of blend together. That's what I felt about tonights.

I'm excited to see more dances from the LXD guy (I forget his name)

And what's up with Megan Mullally as guest judge?! Seemed somewhat random

*I actually thought Sonya Tayeh's piece was a little weak? Good dancing, but weak. I normally love Sonya, but I know not every dance will be a hit. I feel same. I love Sonya, but her piece was either translated by dancers weakly or her choreography was weak.

I actually ffw'd through it half way. Did not like it. I'm not really sure how the judges could give as good of compliments as they did with it. eh, what do I know! lol...
*I felt like the dances were not randomly assigned. Seriously, Iveta getting quickstep (which, btw, was almost magical, IMO). Completely agree. It seemed more like they picked dances that one or both of the couples excelled at. But Iveta's dance was good and her tap-dancer partner (forgot name) kept up decently.
