Names for our baby girl

Soooo we are still sort of stuck on names...I know we still have time, but I thought I'd post this for some entertainment as well as some opinions:)

My top name: Charlotte

Josh's top name: Audrey

I also like Audrey but I don't know if I like it as much as Charlotte.

Can you think of any other names that are similar in style to those? I feel like I've been through every name book and website and nothing else has really jumped out to me. We're looking for a classic and feminine name that isn't too common.

Re: Names for our baby girl

  • I like both of those names, so we may have a similar naming style.

    What about Aubrey?

    Ainslee

    Fiona

    Alice

    Clara

    Lucy

  • No more baby Holland?

Charlotte is my #1 favorite baby name, followed by Stella. I lobbied hard for my niece to be named Charlotte up until they filled out the birth certificate haha.

I think we do like similar names! Alice was my first top name, but Josh HATES it. I like Ainslee but it reminds me too much of some girls I went to school with:( I hate when that happens!

    Nope:(

I don't think Josh liked Holland too much:( Plus the more I thought about it, I don't think it flows well with our last name.

My only worry with Charlotte is that it's getting pretty popular in our area. I was trying to avoid having a child that shares a name with 5 of her classmates:/

    Nope:(

Awww, cuz I was gonna say, that might help with the decision -- going with the flow of things.

    Audrey Charlotte?

    Charlotte Audrey?

    There's a compromise...

True! We thought of doing that too...I just don't think we're at the point where we can decide who's giving up "their" first name:) I thought maybe moving on to something else we agree on might be better, but who knows!

  • I love Fiona, very pretty.

With the exception of Carrie, I love all the SATC names - Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte.

  • A lot of the names I listed are Irish names.  I like Maeve or Claire as middle names.

  • I love Charlotte! It sounds horrible with out last name though. If we have a girl, we would do Scarlett over Charlotte because it's sounds better with our last name. Audrey is also beautiful!! Both names sound great with your last name!! I vote Charlotte holland D.

    Yes

Though no, we did not get the idea from SATC... or Jersey Shore, for that matter ;p

Put them both in a hat and draw one. That's pretty fair!
  • Charlotte and Audrey are two of my favorite names. They're on our short list for sure. Other names I like that are similar style: Caroline (I know you already said you can't use this), Natalie, Amelia, Cara, Claire, Annelise (really love this name, regret naming kitty Annie), Elise, Madelyn (though too popular), Catherine (love Cate, something about the C is classier haha). Have you looked at the ssa.com ranking for your state? That may give you a better idea of how popular Charlotte really is in your area. The list for your state may be a lot different that it is nationwide. I feel like Charlotte is blowing up on TN, but I haven't seen hardly any IRL. Maybe it's like buying a new car, suddenly you see that car everywhere.

I think Holland would be a great middle name. Audrey Holland, Elise Holland, Natalie Holland all get Yes from me.

Charlotte is pretty popular... but I like the Audrey Charlotte idea.

    How about

    Caroline
    Abigail
    Eloise
    Lavinia
    Letitia

those fall in the same group as your ideas in my mind and don't seem to be too popular right now.

Actually Charlotte is #15 in VA! I was surprised it was that high. I wish I could search by county too! Lol:) Even though it's pretty high on the list I still don't know any little girls named Charlotte.

I'm glad you like Holland for a mn! I think all of those are cute!:)

  • I like using Holland as a middle name.  Both Charlotte and Audrey are good names.  Here are some names that I don't think people have mentioned yet:

Victoria, Anne/Anna, Emily, Sophia, Penelope, Ella, Adrienne, Andrea, Marie, Cecilia, Madeline

Apparently all of these names except for Anne, Adrienne, Marie, and Cecilia are in the top 100 for VA in 2010.  Most of the top 100 names are classic and feminine so this will be a tough one!

  • My top names for a girl where, Charlotte, Madelyn, Alice or Coraline.

So I'm probably no help since I love them all.

    How are you feeling?

  • Thanks all! I really like some of the suggestions so I'll mention them to Josh. I really like Coraline but it's too similar to my sisters name, Cori....and we'd probably end up calling her Cor...as we do my sister. Hmm.

Lizzay, I'm feeling pretty good, thanks! Time seems to be flying by and we're both so excited to meet her! I finally finished the registry too, which is a huge relief.

  • I say Charlotte, but I'm biased because we're using Charlotte Grace if the baby is a girl. :-)
  • I love Audrey. My brother's daughter is Audrey.

    Eleanor?

    Tessa?

    Hannah?

    Lauren?

    Amelia?

    Celia?

    Lily (Lilian, Liliana)?

    Eliza?

I like both of these and Caroline-

Here are some fun ones I have heard lately - Harper, Berkley, and we were going to use Margaret and call her Maggie.  I do love Stella too!

  • I like Stella, Tessa, and Harper.
  • We have very similar taste, I love so many of these names.  Might have to bookmark for the future.  We have tons of boy names, but not a lot of girls names.

I really do like Charlotte, and Tessa.  Maeve is one of my favorite names, but H hates it.
