My first job fair tomorrow

I'm going to my first job fair tomorrow.  My goal is to visit a kiosk for one specific company that I used to work for and want to be a part of again.

Is there any advice on how I can get the most out of the job fair experience?  Of course, I plan to bring several copies of my resume.

TIA!

Re: My first job fair tomorrow

  • No great advice, except bring some copies of your resume.  I wouldn't bring a ton unless you can use them elsewhere.

In my experience (3 job fairs), they tend to be a lot of entry level call center jobs.  Most wouldn't even take resumes, they just said "apply online."  That was so annoying as I could have done that without getting dressed and driving across town.

I hope you are able to connect with your old job.  Otherwise, I've found them useless.
  • I have been to two and they were not useful for me because neither had any science job openings, they were all sales and customer service type jobs.

Dress as if you're going to an interview.

Bring copies of your resume to hand out.

Shake hands and talk with people standing behind the panel, basically treat it like an interview. get their contact info, business cards, and email/contact them to stay in touch and network.
