Trying SO HARD not to shout profanities right now!!!!!
I LOST a gadddamn check for $2,500 for work that I did as a freelancer for a non profit. This check was issued to me by a gov't agency and I can't exactly go around asking them to give me a new check.
I HATE PAPER. I HATE THAT I'M A TOTAL SCATTERBRAIN. SHIIIIIIIIIIIT.
This better turn up or I'm going to be so upset.

Re: Trying SO HARD not to shout profanities right now!!!!!
Government checks eventually expire. I think it's 180 days if it's federal. That's a long time, but if you can hold out that long they will definitely reissue you a check.
Don't panic. This is fixable.
If you don't cash the check in several months, they might try to contact you because they'll have a unreconciled check sitting on their books.
Either that or they will void the check.
It's best to call and ask them to re-issue. Say it never reached you in the mail or something, if you're that embarassed.
