I can relax now - "new" car is OURS! :-)
We are the proud new owners of a 2008 Mazda3 hatchback. I am in LOVE with it. It's super sporty on the inside and really really fun to drive.
These aren't pictures of ours but it looks exactly the same. YAY!!!! I can CHILL OUT now. :-)

Aaaand this one IS ours. I took it at a stop light on the way back to the office. :-)

Have fun! Mazdas are great.
I used to drive an 08 Mazda6. I loved that car!

That is too funny. The car I just replaced is a Mazda Protage. The Mazda 3's replaced the Protage when they quit making it. Mine is a sedan though, not a hatchback. And white.
Enjoy!!
I currently have a red CX-7.
We got a great deal on it so it's loaded with NAV, leather, sunroof, Bose, etc... It's my attainable dream car and I remember that feeling when we first got it. It's so much fun to get a new car so enjoy it!!
""No one else will ever know the strength of my love for you. After all, you're the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside."

According to DH, heated seats can be added fairly cheaply. That was one thing on my required list and he kept saying that if we didn't find a car that already had them, he would have them installed for me.
Let me know if you want the contact information for the place/guy he was going to use.
I don't think we would add it...we'll just make sure to get it in our next car. :-)
One thing I DO want to add is an auto-dimming rear view mirror with a compass. My Saturn has that now and I've gotten really used to using the compass!
My Saturn actually does two other things I love that this car doesn't do: music stays on after car is turned off and door locks automatically engage when you go from park to drive and vice versa. I was really surprised that all of the cars we looked at didn't have that. Maybe I should give my little Saturn some more credit... :-) Other than those couple things though I think the Mazda reigns supreme. I love how quick it is! Accelerating from a stop is very WHOOOOOSH! When we test drove the 2011 Caliber is was like pulling taffy trying to get that thing to go. Poor muffin just didn't want to move! As soon as I touched the gas in the Mazda I knew it was a winner.
OMG, I'm surprising myself here. I don't get gushy about cars. Ever. :-)
Congrats! I have a '10 Mazda3 hatchback and I love it. L.O.V.E. I.T.
I previously had a Protege, which was an awesome car, but then I replaced that with a Hyundai. The Hyundai Sonata was fine, but it was no Mazda. I never really loved the Hyundai. I went back to a Mazda last summer and have no regrets.
Mine is named Elsie. It started out as Little Car (since Andy;s SUV is named the Big Rig). Then, it evolved to LC, which became Elsie.
Does yours have bluetooth? I wasn't looking for that feature when I was car shopping, but I really like it. I still feel a bit weird answering the phone by pressing a button on the steering wheel, but it is a nice safety feature.
How will your dogs ride in the car? Do you fold the seats down and put crates in? I haven't put Sam in the hatchback part yet, I just put him in the back seat with a seat belt harness.

When I traded in my old Honda for a Nissan Altima, I wanted all the bells and whistles too. It has leather & heated seats, bose sound system w/6 CD changer, etc. It doesn't have the ipod hookup because it's a 2006, but I could never downgrade after this car. Have fun!
