Hawaiian bridal shower favors?
So we're throwing a Hawaiian themed bridal shower for my friend in August and I'm in charge of the favors. The plan was little boxes of chocolate covered macadamia nuts with a sticker on it but the nuts are expensive so I was thinking of switching to cellophane bags with a sticker and a ribbon to cut costs but am now wondering if there are any better ideas for favors. Anyone have any?

Re: Hawaiian bridal shower favors?
Yeah my first thought was macadamia nuts but then I remembered they can be pricey.
Since it's a shower, what about shower stuff? All the fun tropical scents are out now and Bath and Body always has a coupon for something in my email.
Or if everyone is a drinker maybe look for small packets of drink mixes and throw in an airplane bottle?
You could still do chocolates, but maybe do chocolate shells instead of the nuts.

I too thought chocolate covered macadamia nuts (haha, nuts - yes I'm that juvenile). Have you checked the bulk candy isles of grocery stores? I'm pretty sure wegmans has some, no idea how expensive.
Otherwise maybe just go with typical shower candies of some sort, and wrap it Hawaiian style. Surfboards, lei's, etc. Or buy some cheapo Hawaiian themed cloth at a fabric store and bag up the candy in that.

Now I want choc covered macadamia nuts.
I like the idea of using some type of Hawaiian themed container with candy in it. You can also make candies in the shape of something Hawaiian, if you use the Wilton frosting bags that you can melt in it is super easy.
ETA: sort of like these but NOT with the different colors, screw all that just make it solid and use brightly colored tropical-ish ribbons to tie the bags. You can even stick one of the little umbrellas under the ribbon once you have them all out for a little more flair.
(that being said I friggin' love those candies I know not everyone does)
You can buy bags of candy that look like rocks and seashells. Not sure how expensive they would be in your area. They are good and I believe usually chocolate.

Oh since the Wiltons are so cost effective I like the idea of the a candle to go along with!! You can maybe hit up a warehouse party type place because tropical scents are seriously half the supply when I go the ones around here. You can get those tulle circles to tie around the candles and use the same ribbon you used for the candies. Done just right I don't think it wouldn't look tacky at all.
Oh duh I totally forgot but, for the baby shower (I know I already shared this not too long ago) but we had a flower in small bud vase at each setting along with the candies. It turned out so pretty and since we skipped centerpieces it was also still pretty cost effective. If you found a flower that could pass as tropical that could be super nice.
Okay now I am done and will leave your post alone. LOL
Really helpful ideas girls! I'm really glad I asked! I'm thinking I might try finding the hawaiian shaped chocolates. Those pictures you posted Lockit were really cute!
I also like the candle idea, I'll see what the other girls maybe think that's better than candy.
if you go with the cellophane bags you can get them on the cheap at nashvillewraps.com. That's where I got mine and my sister's for the weddings.
Macadamia nuts would be good. Could you make a couple macadamia nut chocolate chip cookies and stick them in a bag?
Sticker labels are cheap and easy.
OH! You could also get those little bags and fill them with tropical jelly bellys like these.
They would be colorful and really cute. You could make a tag thanking people for coming.
The jelly bellys ship reallllllllly well and come fast.
Stacey do you have/know of a template for sticker labels? I had wanted to order them from where I did my wedding ones but think I might should be making them now.
The cookie idea is really good....I like the jelly beans too but for the amount I would need I think the cost is getting up there like the chocolate nuts.
