Binky fairy update - success!

Wow that binky fairy is the best idea in the world! Olivia started having second thoughts as the 'exchange' before bed happened Monday and it did take her about an hour to fall asleep. That night it was storming and also a couple bad dreams so Monday night stunk, but we made it through it. The binky fairy brought her a MEGA block table (very into building towers right now) and then DH and I got her a Toy Story pillowcase (with a little buzz head that sticks out). I gave her the pillow at naptime because she went to where her binkies were kept for her nap, and found that pillow there instead. She whined for about 20 minutes for that binky, but she finally fell asleep. She has asked for it a few times for the last day or so but no tears. When I tell her they are gone, given to babies who needed them, she kind of stops talking about it.

We also got her a bumble bee card and wrote a note in it from teh Binky Fairy. It just said that she was taking them, giving them to babies who need them, she was SO proud of her and mommy and daddy were too. She has carried that card from room to room with her for the last two days. It's so cute. She's asked me to read it several times, but mostly she just has it in the room with her.

Anyway, thought I would share. If anyone is wanting to get rid of that binky, this definitely worked for us (why didn't we do it sooner!?) It worked better for Olivia than cutting the nipple or just throwing them away. This way, it is like she had some control over it and just a reminder is all it takes that her binkies are GONE. Big Smile

  • Yay!! Getting rid of the binky can be really hard, but it sounds like she handled it so well! What a big girl :-)
  • Yay!

I was a little late posting about it on your original post, but the binky fairy worked well for us too and I can't believe I didn't dive in and do it sooner!
